Kitty Ellas Mom Posted June 17, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2022 I'm assuming that they let you keep your Princess medallions after the cruises. Am I right? I was supposed to embark on my 1st ever cruise after booking it first in 2019 but something happened in my family and I had to cancel. I had just received my medallion that day. Since they aren't asking for it back I'm assuming I get to keep it, but if you are on the ship do you have to turn it it? I want mine even though I didn't get to go. sandyoftheseas Posted June 17, 2022 #9 Share Posted June 17, 2022 I usually make a photo book either from an on line site like shutterfly or mixbook or an actual photo book (yes I'm old school) and I put on in that and the other one goes on my refrigerator with my other 50 or so magnets of our travels. memoak Posted June 17, 2022 #10 Share Posted June 17, 2022 You need the medallion to get off the ship after that it is trash. We saw no reason for one more “thing” around the house
wcflats Posted June 17, 2022 #11 Share Posted June 17, 2022 We have kept all of our cruise card’s and now medallions. We also used to purchase the princess magnets specific to the ship and cruise that we were on. The medallions now take the place of the magnets and are on our fridge. Just fun reminders of our cruises.
runner2013 Posted June 17, 2022 #12 Share Posted June 17, 2022 We kept ours. We have what I call a 'book of life' with important milestones that happen to us during our lives. We were just married so the medallions went in with the wedding date as a rememberance of our day. Plus it's fun to look back on all the cruise cards and remember where you've been:) Get's me through the cold New England winters.
Potstech Posted June 17, 2022 #13 Share Posted June 17, 2022 I keep all of the cruise passes so when someone says "Did you really go on that many trips." I just show them the proof and move on to the next item. Drop jaw always seem to follow.
Kitty Ellas Mom Posted June 18, 2022 Author #14 Share Posted June 18, 2022 What's a cruise card? Is it like a student id?
Potstech Posted June 18, 2022 #15 Share Posted June 18, 2022 It was what was used on the ship before the Medallion program was started several years ago. Similar to a hotel key card.

Hi Kitty, If you look behind the Medallion you can see my cruise card. On this cruise we received both. In the Princess card holder it’s on the right. Sorry that you only can see just a small part of the card. Tony Edited June 18, 2022 by Lucky TGO

Rare tetleytea Posted June 18, 2022 #18 Share Posted June 18, 2022 I used to keep the old medallions, but the new medallions are more secure than the old but are not particularly useful afterward. Much like your hotel room key.

Much like your hotel room key. Hotel room keys make great book markers. And the occasional ice scraper.

shellbeachjim Posted June 20, 2022 #22 Share Posted June 20, 2022 Personally I would rather not keep them. If Princess would have have a recycling box when you leave the ship, that would make me happy. The medallions contain a battery and electronics, so in California they should not be thrown away to go into landfills, but should be properly recycled. Princess foisted these on us, so they should be responsible for providing proper recycling of the medallions. 1
WAvoyager Posted June 20, 2022 #23 Share Posted June 20, 2022 I’m hoping to get one from each ship. I know it’s silly to pay $5 for a tiny ship’s logo on the medallion, but it’s a nice alternative to the usual “Mexico” (or other location) magnet for the fridge.
