Hotel recommendations in Melbourne

We will be in Melbourne pre cruise next March, and I was hoping to get some current recommendations for hotels in good locations. We will be there 4 nights, so the 4 of us might consider a VRBO or similar rental. What location would be best to look for?

Thanks for your help!

For 4 nights look at serviced appartments, Adina, Oaks, Riverside have all been good in the past, or Station Pier Condominiums we’re great if you want something not so central but closer to the pier.

Anything in the central business district (CBD) is convenient to trams and trains. There is a tram which goes almost to Station Pier (109) which could be convenient particularly if you stay close to the tram line. When the route enters the CBD, it travels down Spring Street into Collins and then turns left into Spencer Street which then becomes Clarendon Street and passes Crown Casino on the left and then turns right onto the light rail and continues onto Port Melbourne.

Docklands on the western end of the CBD and Southbank across the Yarra River from Flinders Street are also both convenient and have plenty of options.

Anywhere in this area would be good. I suggest you check out your favourite hotel chain and/or booking sites to see what is available for the dates you will be in Melbourne.
