Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida.

Interesting quote.

I have no idea what a beer can cabbage sandwich is. Not wild about the drink even though I like a Manhattan.

We've been to California many times but never visited San Francisco.

Off to the Golf Course in a few minutes.

Thanks for the Daily, stay well and have a great day.

Good morning.  Thanks for the Fleet and Daily Report.

Happy Hump Day.

Another hot one here, Bertie and I will go for a walk before it gets too hot.

Interesting collection of days.  A big thank you to HVAC techs.  I haven't had an onion ring in ages, today's the day!  We must save the rainforests.

I like the quote, but I doubt that I follow it.

I'm not sure what the meal is, looking forward to seeing the recipe.  I'm not sure if I'd like the cocktail, wish I was on a BHB and I'd try one.  Hope the wine is tasty and not too expensive.

Another port I have not visited, maybe someday.  Thanks in advance for pictures.

Prayers for everyone.

Stay safe.

Good morning. We are up and getting ready. Need to take wife to get a rental car for sisters weekend, then help her pack the car and get GD up.Neighbor is coming over and tend to GD if needed. Airport is only 15 minutes away. Their headed for Jacksonville to spend the night then off to Virginia for the sister’s reunion.

Great quote today. I’m going to be the head cook for a few days but I don’t think the cabbage is going to happen. Have been to San Francisco many times

Enjoy Hump Day if there really is such a day needed for us retired?

Last night’s movie classic was Pinochle!

Tonight it will be back to You Tube checking out cruise and travel bloggers!😁

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the fleet report.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds interesting and I look forward to @dfish pictures and recipes.  Today is an in office day. I need to train some new group members on a part of the job.  This morning I was able to complete the health assessment and successfully completed ArrivCan.  I’ll be printing the QR code when I’m in the office.  The next step is tomorrow’s test, hopefully I get the correct result.  Then I can cancel two weeks of meetings!
I wouldn’t mind if I could bring one of the kids along.

Thank you for the Hump Day Report, Rich.  HVAC tech are certainly in  high demand right now, although there seem to be lots of places with temperatures either higher or lower than normal so demand will be unevenly spread through the country.  Rain forests are both essential and threatened.  I'll pass on the onion rings.  I like the quote.  Been to San Francisco many times both on Crystal and land trips but never on a BHB.  I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Chilled Apple Vichyssoise, Fruit Cup au Natural, and Linguini with Prosciutto and Gorgonzola as served on MS Prinsendam May 24, 2015.

Today is my last day as a 78-year old.  Today, in Social Security terms, I attain age 79.

Today’s care list:

HAL Sailer DH Nephew Curt with serious mowing accident and continuing complications
StLouisCruisers DH in Covid jail another day
Melinda with stage 4 cancer
Tana with new pneumonia
smitty34877 DH gout
Heartgrove brother recovering from PEG insertion
Covid in Durango shelter staff
Buddy with worsening problems
From the rotation:
1Angelcat’s Jaguar with untreatable cancer
StLouisSal with weakening legs and covid
Cruzin Terri with continuing hand problems
Cruising-along niece awaiting a kidney

Celebrations and Shoutouts:

Dobiemom at County Fair until 6/23
jayhawk66 in NC Mountains beating the heat
Welcome home travelingbums
StLouisCruisers sprung free
Cruising-along visit from DGS’s
3 days for Crazy for Cats (Zaandam 6/25 to 7/9)
Lady Hudson (Enchantment OTS to 6/24), VMAX (Oosterdam to 6/25),  StLouisCruisers, Red Haired Lady and kb4683(Island Princess  to 6/29) and  Norseh2o  (Insignia to 7/4) at sea

Good afternoon from our garden where it is sunny and 75°F.

Thank you for today's fleet reports and Daily Rich.

Excellent quote.

I will give today's food and drink a miss.

We had 2 days pre- cruise and a hotel day room after our Hawaiian cruise in San Francisco.

We toured Alcatraz Island during our stay.

Prayers for everyone on the care list and for Sandi's husband who is still in quarantine but fantastic news Sandi @StLouisCruisers is finally free.

I Hope everyone is well and enjoying today.

Graham.

Good morning, everyone!

We have another scorcher on tap for today in northeastern Ohio.  I want to get out there early and get my laps done, so this will probably be short.  Surprisingly my house never got hot yesterday with the 91 degree heat.  I never turned on the air.  It must be the trees in full bloom protecting the house from the heat.

Today's meal is interesting.  I'm sure the cabbage would be great tasting.  I'd probably use it as a side dish instead of a sandwich to save the carbs.   Here is the first recipe from Epicurioushttps://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/beer-can-cabbage-sandwiches

1874765226_beercancabbagesandwich1.jpg.2bcd19a8a5e7d45082172496fe8a3582.jpg

I guess it is pretty simple to do.  Hollow out the cabbage, put it on a beer can, set it on the grill and slather it with bbq sauce.   https://www.countryliving.com/food-drinks/news/a44336/grilled-beer-can-cabbage-recipe/   From there you turn it into a burger.

1386397457_beercancabbagesandwich2.jpg.c12f8e77db103c38344094d5a5e893d2.jpg

Here's another take on it.  All the recipes seem to stem from the one at Epicurious.  https://texashillcountry.com/beer-can-cabbage/

213400902_beercancabbagesandwich4.jpg.34a686dfe01240319f3fabb91ff1c482.jpg

Like I said, I would use it as a side dish.

Prayers for all who need them, especially Ukraine, victims of gun violence, and Daily family members struggling with challenges.  Special prayers for Curt, Tana, and Buddy.   Cheers to those who are celebrating and let's raise a glass to @StLouisCruisers Sandi getting out of Covid jail!   Wishing you all a great day.

Good morning  from a cloudy and humid NY.A huge thank you is due to everyone  who mentioned  cherry juice and gout.I put an order in for the cherry concentrate tablets last night!DH is not a complainer at all but one can see the obvious  pain he is in when trying to walk.

We have not been to the  port, look forward to pictures.I am undecided about the quote and salute HVAC techs and rain forests.  I think I will pass on the recipe today.

Our soon to be graduate attended a party during the evening yesterday.DH and I were joking with him that he needed to put his phone away to actually speak with his friends.DD gave him a ride to the party and told me there were at least 20 kids outside on a small lawn all looking at their phones.Oh my.We later found out that the parents collected all the phones as they came into the house! It was a pool party with ice cold water in the pool.I am sure he had fun anyway.

Our Tana had a long night with awful coughing.DD told me she could hear it in her house.I am hoping today will be a better day.

Again, thank you everyone  for always being there. We all appreciate it here.

Terry

@richwmnYour choice of quote was a good slap in the face for me today, after last nights whining.

@ger_77 Great minds think alike, we ended up making shrimp scampi last night. DH doesnt often tell me that my cooking is good, but he enjoyed dinner last night.

I'm very glad that your house was not affected by that rain you had yesterday.  Right now Atlanta really does need that rain,  with it so hot, the ground is getting "crunchy".

@rafinmdI'm confused, is today your pre birthday day?  Do we celebrate your last day of 78 or wait til tomorrow for the actual day?  Oh heck-celebrate both

cat-holding-glass-wine-celebrating-82999939.jpg

National Onion Ring Day?  What a day to celebrate.  DH and I found a local restaurant a few months back, he wanted a burger, a decent burger, and Golden Arches, was just not going to work, so we "googled" best burger near us, and I think we found Nirvana, not only "just the right size" burger, but they have the best Onion Rings.  We have been going back every Friday night (except last Friday) for the last two months.   I know they aren't healthy, but being happy is known to make you healthier.😸

I cant wait to see what the meal of the day is, but to cut on oven heating, and cooking tonight, it's a crock pot -pot roast.  Something I need to start soon.

Please stay hydrated today, stay inside, keep cool, and be safe in this heat wave (if you are in the middle of the country or east).  If you happen to be enjoying cooler weather, please send it our way.  I hate hot.

A short update: DH's nephew has been moved from ICU to PCU. Doctors considered removing chest tube Monday and Tuesday but didn't. Maybe today? No news yet on any plans for discharge, rehab, or return home.

Your prayers are a blessing,

-Melisa

Back after a day in  town yesterday. Perfect day to go for a 90 minute drive to get to Menard's, our decent grocery Meijer, the casino, buying fireworks and a pizza dinner. We were having a pre celebration for DFs birthday today. Also a great way to get away from the heat. A much better day today with low humidity and a nice breeze.  No fishing with the wind.

Prayers for all on the care list and for all involved in the Ukraine war. 🙏

Thank you for the Fleet and Daily Reports. @StLouisCruisers I am happy to hear you are out of COVID jail. Hopefully your husband sprung today.

A few photos from the last few days. Snapping turtles are on the move to lay their eggs. We have one due that lays hers in the gravel by our front walk. Smart move, keeps the predators away.  New Iris this year.  Bought last summer finally blooming. Pizza birthday celebration last evening and first small mouth of the season. Have a great day.

Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebration Report, and thank you Debbie for today's recipes. And thank you all for being here!

My DSIL had a meeting yesterday with the rehab facility staff yesterday concerning my brother's care. She feels that he is stronger now with the PEG due to getting better nourishment. The plan is to work with him physically and to reach a point where he can be discharged home. Then arrange for additional care at home.

On my FB feed yesterday, the Alaskan Malamute rescue organization where I adopted "Juno" and "Sam" from had an announcement concerning a 7-year old female that they had taken in for adoption. The owners are battling medical issues and felt they could no longer care for "Tika." She is described as pint-sized (?) contrary as how I would describe "Sam"! She sounds like a good fit to help keep "Sam" company. I have initially approached Sue about possible adopting "Tika" as well. "Tika" reminds me of "Juno" with her smile - and long tongue!

Stay Safe!

- Jack

Good Morning from a warm and sunny day at the beach

We arrived home yesterday from our trip up to Pennsylvania for our nephews wedding. Great trip. Wedding was wonderful. It is so good to see everyone for happy occasions. We are done with all the weddings, we had one in April, May and June all involving travel.

I read the daily on my phone but didnt post. It would have been full of typos!

Roy, @rafinmd   A very Happy Birthday to you! May you enjoy many more!

Sandi @StLouisCruisers  Glad you are feeling better and can enjoy some of your cruise. Hope DH gets out soon!

I wish I knew the answer to this virus. It seems no matter what you do, people are still getting it. At least the ones I know have not really been sick,  describing as a bad cold. Although my BFF only had symptoms for less than a day.  Final payment is rapidly approaching for our trip. Makes me nervous, but we also have a lot of FCC tied up in this trip. I must remain optimistic.

Water aerobics this AM, and tonight going boating with friends.

Stay safe and enjoy today

As others have said, it's good to get things off your chest now and then.

I do think it is interesting how the quotes seem to intersect with things going on. I don't pick the quotes ( or for that matter the wine, drink, and meal ) each morning. Each has been selected for almost a year and I have already been working on next year.
