mickey89 Posted June 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted June 22, 2022 Very surprised at the amount of seaweed on Fort Lauderdale beach as seen via Courtyard Webcam - never seen it at this level before. Are Caribbean Islands seeing the same increase this year ?
Islander500 Posted June 23, 2022 #2 Share Posted June 23, 2022 I've heard that the tropical storm a few weeks ago stirred up the seaweed significantly in South Florida. It wasn't like that 2 weeks ago in Miami Beach. I'm headed to Hollywood Beach tomorrow so hoping it's not too bad. 😒

I would doubt that they have much in common as far as sea conditions goes.
SkystheLimit Posted June 23, 2022 #4 Share Posted June 23, 2022 Actually, there is currently quite a bit of Sargassa grass in many places in the Caribbean. We saw a lot while at sea last week on the Equinox. Some places clean/rake the beaches. Others do not. It is part of summer for many beaches. Are Caribbean Islands seeing the same increase this year ? We stayed right on the beach in FLL after our Edge cruise in April and it was the same way. That's life, but it smelled pretty bad and wasn't pretty.
