Infinity Sails Again June 25th

Hello everyone,

I will be on her maiden voyage back in service in 2 days.  I will be sailing with my sister who took me on my first ever cruise 31 years ago.  We went on the Azure Seas which was part of Admiral Cruise lines.  It got me hooked on cruising and was the perfect vacation for me during my medical training.  You could step on board and not worry about a thing until you got off.

This will be my first sailing in the Retreat.  My only suite experience was in November when my late DH and I sailed in the Haven on the Joy.  We had lots of Celebrity  FCC which was tied up on another cruise so we jumped to NCL so he could have another cruise and celebrate our 30th anniversary.  After his death in March Celebrity was  quick in transferring his FCC to me and I was able to use some for my sister.  I loved the Haven so I have high hopes for the Retreat.

My Covid test is done, I am  packed and waiting to fly out tomorrow.  I am a bit nervous about the afternoon and evening weather in Atlanta but can't change any flights until the morning (I guess technically after midnight).   I have choices on Delta through Detroit and Minneapolis from Kansas City but my sister lives in Georgia so she needs Atlanta.   I will do my best with pictures and comments. I know a lot of members are curious about how the Infinity looks.  We sailed on her in 2017 through the panama canal and had a great time.  I am trying something new this trip and using only one carry on and a backpack. I hope some nice strong person will help me get it in the overhead bin!

Please let us know what sort of shape she is in.   I’m ready to book for Spain 2023 after our 2022 cruise was cancelled by Celebrity.  Can’t wait to hear all about your trip.

I've seen some interesting cruises on Infinity and Constellation, but I sense that they'd be a bit old, tired and non-upgraded, which isn't really what I'm after considering most of Celebrity's prices.  Let me know if my concerns are misplaced.

It is very hot in Atlanta today... 99 degrees right now... but the air is unusually dry.. so little chance of storms today. So any flight delays will likely be due to weather other places or pilot shortages... but if you are flying Delta out of Atlanta... they should have many options to get to Florida... best of luck and safe travels... I have noticed Infinity hanging out around Florida for several weeks... noticed it leave port before the last storm and wondered where it was going I assume they were getting the ship back ready for passengers.

Did 14 days on the Apex last month,

I have book Reflection and the Conny since I got back

the 4 dinning rooms and Infinity Balconies are nice on the E- class ships but that was about it

We sailed infinity a few weeks before the world went crazy , ship definitely needed a refurbish . I don’t particularly care for this class being upgraded to a retreat , I think the outside retreat area is a joke , no bar , no pool. But love celebrity suite perks on all classes of ships. Did summit earlier this year in Royal suite, our infinity was also royal suite.

I noticed a post a few weeks back where someone posted a close up of the ship and stated that someone whose child is a dancer onboard had taken it and said there were people all over painting and getting the ship ready. Hopping everything will be cosmetically nice 🙂

Hopefully the weather will hold through tonight. There is rain in both KC and Atlanta. As long as there is no lightening I think we will be ok. I take off at 1pm from KC and 6 pm from Atlanta.  I will take pictures of as many places on the ship as I can. If anyone has a particular place they want me to photograph let me know.

My condolences for your loss. Good luck through Atlanta - download the Delta app if you haven’t already, it’s a big help. Have an amazing cruise!

Agree --- I like to check the luggage and see it makes the connection and loaded aboard.

We are on the ship!  We had 11:00 check in.  We stayed at the Hampton Inn Fort Lauderdale Airport North.  It is my first time staying there.  It is convenient but not very clean.  They have a shuttle that is $15 per person if needed.  I don’t think I will be staying there for my solo cruise in September.

Now back to the cruise.  Check in for the Retreat was quick and did not look busy for non retreat guests either.  Everyone and I mean everyone was super excited to see us.  They were cheering and clapping. The captain was personally greeting everyone. They really wanted to make it special for her first time back in service and she is the last Celebrity ship to get back to work.

I was on the Infinity in 2017 and she has had some work done since then.  The carpet in the common areas looks clean and newer.  The furniture in the lounges looks in good repair.  She may be old but she is looking good.

We are in cabin 6145, it is a sky suite next to the Penthouse suite AFT.  It has some challenges and definitely needs an update.  There is only one electrical outlet for the whole cabin and very limited storage.   I knew this ahead of time and we brought only one carry on each.

We ate lunch in Luminae (my first time)

It was very clean and bright everyone was super attentive.  We walked through the Ocean View cafe and it looked great. The desserts were outstanding.  The crew serves you and I am ok with that.

I received a call from Celebrity as I was boarding the plane yesterday asking about our room preferences. I was panicked and told her no welcome wine, empty fridge, fresh ice and extra pillows.  Our Personal Retreat Host/Butler greeted us but did not seem to be to excited to do the few things I asked such as empty the fridge and keep us with fresh ice and take away the welcome wine.  I have read other threads regarding this so I asked about afternoon snacks and he told us to go Michaels Lounge.  We really don’t want the snacks but I thought I would ask.  I am keeping an open mind on this as my only other suite experience is the Haven on NCL.  Our room steward was very pleasant and I know she will do a good job.

I will try to attach some pictures I took today. They are mainly food oriented as we were hungry. I will catch snaps of other parts as the cruise goes on.

Glad you are on board and I must say your cabin is looking great and so is the ship. We will be staying in 6118 in the near future which is just along from you so if you could get the cabin steward to sneak some pics that would be great.

What is you balcony like has it got nice seating?

Hope you and  your sister  have a wonderful cruise. Since you are in a Sky Suite that is connecting to a Penthouse Suite, seems you would have a top-notch PRH/Butler. For your sake, I hope he just got up on the wrong side of the bed this morning, as nothing you requested is unusual. Maybe write your requests on paper, call and ask him to come to your stateroom after you sail, then give him the paper and go over the requests again. If no action after that, talk to the Retreat Manager.

I was on the last Infinity cruise which ended the 14th March 2020. I am so glad that the ship is now sailing again - it was so sad leaving the crew members so uncertain about the future.

You may have better luck for a snack after or just before dinner. During tea time the PRH's are in Michaels to serve tea. I have my PRH bring me either a cheese plate or shrimp cocktail most nights after dinner. You should have no problem getting the wine changed out to something you would like. The sparkling is just awful!
