Just an update on the Botox request, I had a call from my PT and he has had zilch response from his request to the Dr in Hershey or from his nurse . He is not happy. I told him I am not surprised and how my next appointment is now January. He suggested I try calling and get back to him.

oh my.I am so sorry you have had such difficulty  with this neurologist. Even  here in my very populated area we have long waits for specialists but not as bad as that.

Good morning all!

Summer has finally arrived here, the temperatures will gradually rise to the mid-high 80's F by Monday (and then drop down again, but at least warm).

Interesting days today. I agree with the quote and living with DH, there are plenty of laughs every day. Pass on the wine and drink, hard pass on the meal. Have never been to Brazil.

The plan today is to take advantage of the dry, hot weather and DH will finish pressure-washing.  I hope to finally finish staining the deck.

Sharon @Sharon in AZHappy Birthday!!

Terry @smitty34877thank you for the adorable photo of Miss Camilla 🙂 🙂

Cool and sunny this morning. We are not supposed to have any rain but they said that yesterday and we did get a really nice heavy dump in the mid-afternoon. Ground is wet and the grass is looking very happy. Rain off and on forecast for next 10 days.... looks like maybe we have an early monsoon.

Out at the shelter yesterday. More of the staff have covid.... and the animals keep arriving. There was the cutest little Chihuahua, an owner surrender due to health issues (the owner, not the dog). All of 4 lbs. And young.  I was tempted, but I know that Bandit likes being an only child and I really do not need to take on another dog. I know we will be able to place him quickly and in a good home. The work on the interior continues with flooring just about done in the public areas, painting well underway. All this to lead up to the redo of the dog kennel area in late July which is going to be a real strain if we can not reduce the number of animals. We keep adopting some out but more keep coming in.

Susan

Good Morning.

I will pass on the fish heads.

Today we are finishing our packing. Tomorrow we fly out to Vancouver and will board the Noordam on Sunday.

Last night I completed all the requirements on the Verifly app but the dang thing is so weird. It says I completed all the requirements and then, when I try to view the "pass" it says that I need to complete the requirements. It just keeps going in a loop like that. Technology is great when it works and incredibly frustrating when it doesn't.

Greetings everyone from the Saint John Airport.

My flight has changed 2 times so far.  But the plane did leave Toronto so I should be ok 🤞

A little humour on seating in flights one of my roll call members sent to me

Now I have that funny feeling I left something amiss at the house 😂. Guess I am not used to travelling by myself.  DH always did the checks.

I am always amazed and what people try to bring for carry on luggage.  Pearson is a risk but jam and cooked lobster can’t go in carry on so I knew I had to check my normal ‘carry on’ piece.  Amazingly enough I was the only one with the bag not opened and inspected.  No idea why.  Our airport has a new check in system (remember I haven’t travelled since 2019) so maybe the X-Ray gadget is better?  I was prepared for a fight on the lobster.  They are very specific on how it has to packed.  No waxed cardboard I could find. They are wrapped in two ziplock bags, a then a compost bag (I KNOW they don’t leak since I use them for lobster shells) then another ziplock bag & in an insulated freezer bag.

My note (and tip) to Fed Ex worked.  My neighbour just messaged me to say she had my new Iphone.  if it would have only come an hour earlier, I’d have it.  Oh well.  It’s a relief to know it’s in good hands.

Going to see if I can catch up now that I am here.  My friends are not normally early risers and if that is still the case, I’ll be on here early in the morning.  Not sure what the days hold - but I will definitely drop in if possible.  In memory of dear DH - in the Canaletto on the EE where they made us a rose and he was about to present it to me.  Happy Anniversary, beloved 💔

Good morning, Happy Birthday to @Sharon in AZ! And congratulations to Graham on a successful knee jab!  There seem to be travel woes everywhere, we leave a week from tomorrow and I'm dreading it.

We were in Alter do Chao in 2019 on a wonderful Amazon cruise on Prinsendam, but I'm having trouble with my photos on my laptop - I'll see if I can post a few pictures from my phone in another post. It was really hot, we walked around the village and took a little boat ride through flooded areas.   As a child, fish eyes were my favourite part of the lovely sweet & sour fish we used to have in Shanghai.  Yum.  😉Also there is a restaurant here which occasionally has halibut cheeks (also yum), so I am okay for fish heads.  (Having the whole head would be a lot of work, though.)

I bought a flat of new strawberries yesterday, so I am inspired to follow @kazu's lead and make some strawberry rhubarb jam.  I'm down to my last jar.  But my rhubarb died last winter, so I must head out to buy some (and maybe take my laptop to the shop to see if they can fix my photos).  Jacqui, glad you made your flight, hope you have a nice weekend with your sister and friends (do I know them? 😃)

Glad the graduation went well, @smitty34877, and that you were allowed to be sentimental!

Back from the doc.  They take my diabetes scanner and let it run reports, and then the doc comes in and goes over the results.  Doc walks in and asks how I am doing.  I tell her I am a terrible patient, and she asked why.  Told her I wasn't taking my meds as directed,  that I was under dosing, and I finally figured it out when the pharmacist called last week and asked me why I had not picked up my meds and talked to me about the benefits.  We figured out that I need to paste a note on the fridge- "Make breakfast by 8, take pill by 9."    DH is going to wake up to a lot of cold breakfasts, as he does not get up early.  Oh well.

Average blood sugar for the day should be 120.  I was a little over, so she is not taking away my addiction to sweets, but limiting them, and of course, keep away from carbs like pasta, and taters.  Which I normally do, I mean if the choice is between angel food cake with fresh strawberries with whipped cream, vs spaghetti, I will take the angel food cake. 😸

She also lowered my medication intake.  Things are looking up.

Time to walk the dog.  ARghhhh!

Good morning from sunny and hot central Texas.  It was humid this morning when I went out to pick up a prescription for DH, who is doing well.

It would be nice if we could see the fairies and if our fairy godmother could wave her wand and make everything all right.  The modern food trucks are good even though we have not tried one yet.  The one that came to my dorm on Sunday nights was from an Italian restaurant near the UT campus.  Sunday dinner was an individual pepperoni pizza.  We do not have a dog now nor do we work, but when DH did, the dogs often came to work.

I love today's quote and laughter does help.

We are not curry eaters, but if we were there would be no curry with fish heads.  We'll also pass on the drink, but the wine sounds nice, and we like Pino Noirs.

We have been to Brazil a few times, but not to Alter do Chao.

@Sharon in AZ  💐  🎈 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  🥂 🌹

@StLouis Cruiser  Sandi, I'm sorry your DH is still testing positive.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY to your DD.

@richwmn  Rich, I hope your FB account was not hacked.  You might still want to go into FB (but of course not through the email link) and change your password to one you have never used on any other site.  Last month, someone in Florida used my password to send a link to everyone of my friends, and then to their friends.  We got an email from FB within a few minutes and at about the time I saw several messages from friends about the link, plus posts on my page.  We changed the password, but they found it.  The second new password, that no one but my father and I ever even mentioned 50 plus years ago, has not been found.  In my case, we think they got in through messenger.   We checked several software sites which say there are problems with messenger and to uninstall it if you have it.  We did uninstall messenger, which means I have not read the messages since then.

@grapau27  Graham, I'm glad the steroid shot is working so well already.  There should be more imprudent in the next day or two.

@smitty34877  Terry, thanks for the latest picture of Camilla with her Grandpa.  She is precious and growing so fast.  I'm glad Tana and your DH got to watch the graduation on line.

@1ANGELCAT  YIKES! 😱  More delays in getting a response to medical requests from the doctor or his nurse.  No matter how busy he is, existing patients should have their needs met quickly.  I'm glad the new medicine is working.

@durangoscots  Susan, I'm sorry there are more Covid cases among the staff.  Hope the rest of the renovations can be completed easily.  Glad you are getting some much needed rain.

@jimgev  Safe travels tomorrow, and BON VOYAGE Sunday on Eurodam.  Have a great cruise.

@kazu  Jacqui, I'm glad your plane is on the way, and safe travels.  Have a good weekend and let your sister and friends comfort and support you if necessary.  That's a great picture of Jose.  Glad you new iPhone is in safe hands.

@marshhawk  Ann, it sounds like you got a fairly good report from the doctor if she lowered your medication intake and did not take away your treats.  Keep up the good work and strive to be her best patient.

@ger_77  Gerry, I made the Lemonade Pie this morning and we'll try it at supper tonight.  I listened to @dfish Debbie's advice about tweaking recipes, and changed the crust to an Oreo crust.  When we were on Koningsdam, I had lemonade with my chocolate chip cookies, and they went well together, so I thought the Oreo crust might work.  I'll let you know how it went.  Also, I have been using the extra creamy Cool Whip which is thicker, and I was able to pile all the filling in the crust.

Lenda

Good afternoon. Thanks for the Daily/Fleet Report.

Fairies are cute. I've never eaten from a food truck. No dog or work here. Great quote.

I'll pass on the meal. The drink looks good but too much sugar. I like the wine.

I haven't been to today's destination. Looking forward to any photos.

Well, not a good night for me. As I was going to bed around 11:30 and taking off my socks, I noticed my right lower leg was hot, red and somewhat painful! I thought probably cellulitis. Could I wait until morning? Since I am on the new immunosuppressant, I decided I should be seen. Called BFF and he picked me up around 12:30AM (bless him). I decided to go to the city hospital of my network versus the suburban one; always interesting characters there. They did bloodwork and gave me the first dose of an antibiotic. I got home just before 4:30. I managed to sleep until 9, and just picked up my prescription. I'm not a nap person, but may try later. I wish I had a recliner so I could elevate my leg; I had been thinking of getting one. And I must not stress eat, as I've been doing well with watching my intake! Always something! Hot and humid here the next few days.

@kazu Safe travels. Sorry about the flight issues. I'm sure your sister and friends are happy to be there for you. Bittersweet Anniversary memories I'm sure; lovely picture of Jose. ((HUGS))

@StLouisCruisers I'm sorry to hear DH is still positive.

@Sharon in AZ Happy Birthday! Ugh on the situation at Heathrow.

@grapau27 Good to hear that the steroid shot is starting to help.

@smitty34877 Thanks for the picture of cute Miss Camilla! Prayers for Tana.

@GTVCRUISER Aww, cute picture.

@1ANGELCAT Yay on the pain med working well. Boo on the long wait for the Botox request.

@mamaofami I'm glad your PCR was negative. Sad that Sam can't celebrate your birthday with you.

@superoma Gorgeous lavender!

@durangoscots Oh my on Covid spreading at the shelter.

@jimgev Safe travels and Bon Voyage!

@marshhawk Take care of your diabetes; I've seen too many folks with complications that made their lives difficult. We want you around!

Prayers for the Care List and Cheers for the Celebration List.

Stay safe everyone.

So sorry to hear this, Vanessa.  Was it diagnosed as cellulitis?  I hope you can find a way to elevate your leg even though you don't have a recliner, and also that you feel much better with the antibiotic.

Ann, what is a diabetes scanner?  Is that the thing you wear and it records blood sugar over the day?

I have such a habit of when I take my meds, it's hard for me to forget (although I have sometimes!)  As my coffee is brewing in the morning I take my morning meds.  As I'm making dinner at night I take my evening meds.

I feel your pain, I'll be going for my A1C in a little over 3 weeks.  And I agree about which carb to give up lol!  It's all a balancing act. For me I can easily give up bread, harder to give up chocolate!
