Is Hollywood Blvd L.A. safe to do with kids?

Hi, we are hoping to do a couple of days in L.A. before flying to Orlando for our Caribbean cruise (will be flying from Australia).  My son wants to see the "Walk of Fame".  I went there 20+ years ago and it felt fairly safe, but looking at recent reviews of the area and a lot of comments how many drug affected/homeless/people begging there are in the area and may not be safe for kids.  We were hoping to get a photo of the Hollywood sign from Hollywood & Highland and see the Dolby theatre too.  Anyone had recent experience in the area-are we best just to do a quick stop at the Walk of Fame to get a couple of photos and then move on to the other places?  Thanks for any info you can provide.

Not at 3AM, but other than that it is fine. There are lots of people and tourists during the day and early evening through 9 or 10 PM. We often park at Hollywood & Highland for the Hollywood Bowl and walk down the hill to get our car after a performance and have never had an issue. Hollywood has actually improved the last 20 years.
