Victoria shore excursion question

Recommended Posts

We're sailing to Alaska with Royal Caribbean in August.  During our stop in Victoria, we've signed up via Royal to visit Butchart Gardens that morning.  The bus is scheduled to get us back to the ship by 1:45 that afternoon.  Independently of Royal, I've booked a bicycle tour of the town which is scheduled to depart at 1:30.  I understand that the timing doesn't quite work out; it's a long story, but in order to try to fit in both activities, it wasn't going to work out for us any other way.  My question is this - on the way back from Butchart Gardens, will the bus drop us off in town so that we can catch our cycling tour in time?  Could I arrange for this at the excursion desk once on board?  Anyone have a similar sort of experience?  Thanks in advance for any feedback.

You really are cutting it tight, as you have no guarantees the bus will even return to the ship by the posted time. In August, ferry traffic can cause significant delays all the way into Victoria.

Will the bus deviate to drop you in town, probably unlikely, but may let you off downtown. Probably best to check with the cruise line directly.

The bus is "scheduled" to get you back to the pier at 1:45 but anyone who has been on a tour knows there is always that group that keeps everyone waiting.  You're going to miss your second tour whether the bus drops you downtown or not; you simply can't do both of these.  You could easily do Butchart Gardens on your own and be back downtown in time for the second tour.

And there it is.  Thanks for the voices of reason.
