Before the pandemic the stock hit a high of $136 per share and paid a $3+ dividend. Friday it closed at $35.20 and hasn’t paid a dividend in almost two years. Stock prices usually are based on future performance, maybe the financial institutions that drive the stock market and invest for a profit, do not see a bright future for the industry. Stock prices are based on what a buyer and a seller agree on, which may or may not have anything to do with past, present or future performace of the company. All of the cruise lines are saddled with enormous debt from money they borrowed to stay in operation during the shutdown, much of which is coming due soon and will have to be refinanced at higher rates than the original loan. Then there's the cost of newbuilds. They need to sail at full capacity-plus and at the highest prices they can get (seen drink/specialty restaurant prices lately?) so that they have at least half a chance of servicing that debt. And even that is uncertain. Guessing that that's why the stock price isn't going up.
Rare S.A.M.J.R. Posted August 1, 2022 #52 Share Posted August 1, 2022 Off Mariner last week. According to CD, there were 374x (sorry, don't remember the exact number) guests. According to the spec sheet I got from GS, 3344 is double occupancy with a capability of 4,000. So we were 111% based on double occupancy and 93% of full capacity.

Buyers and sellers have to base their respective decision on something, if it’s not the past, present, or future results, what is it. The debt would fall into the future performance. RCL announced this morning that they were taking out another trillion dollars in debt as they figure the third quarter will be a loss and they might need it to pay off some of the earlier debt. With interest rates going up it is felt the rate on the new loan will be higher than the previous loans. I wouldn’t expect any real gains in their stock for the next year or two anyway.
