ninjamedic08 Posted July 19, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 19, 2022 Have a family member in a two person cabin unable to make the trip last minute due to a career change. We’re obviously way past the final payment date. Seems to be the prevailing advice is to simply make her a no-show and they’ll refund the port charges and prepaid gratuity, which is perfectly fine. Has anyone ever asked them to simply apply that amount towards onboard credit for that cabin instead of a refund to the credit card used to pay the initial payments? sanmarcosman Posted July 19, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 19, 2022 No, because then they won't be a no show they will be a last minute cancel. The jig is up the moment you open your mouth to reveal the truth of the matter. Mum's the word if they want their taxes and fees refunded.
woodey Posted July 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2022 (edited) ummm,,, in my case it was my wife who couldn't go but I still went, I canceled her and I had a pay a $99 cancelation fee. which was basically a non refundable deposit, plus I lost $150 OBC which she had so... without knowing the details of your deal or contract, I would "as others advised" leave it alone, both of my siblings spouses have missed cruises as well they just showed up and said there not gonna make it....OBS was added to their sail and sign for port fees and taxes. now with all of that being said if the cabin was booked as them as the primary and booking the rate under there VIFP code "like a free cabin" then you might want to get better advice because that could turn into a different story.
