sabrefan Posted July 20, 2022 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2022 Going on the Viking Homelands cruise end of May to mid June 2023. Have already signed up for pre cruise two nights in Oslo and itinerary states staying at Thon Opera Hotel. Also signed up for post cruise two nights in Stockholm and the itinerary states staying at Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel. I have been reading reviews for these two hotels on Trip Advisor. Since this summer has been hot there are many complaints about hot rooms since both these hotels do not have air conditioning. I wonder if there is a chance that Viking will have new contracts next year with hotels that do provide air conditioning since next spring and summer certainly won’t be cooler? CDR2001 Posted July 20, 2022 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2022 We will be in the Radisson Blu in a few weeks. I’ve researched, and yes, it does have AC.
Milehighgrandma Posted July 20, 2022 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2022 Just stayed in Radisson Blu in June for one night before boarding our ship. The hotel was fine, our room had air conditioning, we walked to the ship from the hotel. We only did carryon bags, so not difficult to walk. cmaasfamily Posted July 20, 2022 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2022 Note that there are two Radisson Blu's in Stockholm in close proximity. We stayed two nights at the Radisson Blu Waterfront before our recent Homelands. We booked ourselves but it is also the hotel Viking used for pre-cruise extensions - a Viking desk was set up in the lobby and there were quite few folks on that extension. Both Blu's are well located for walking over to Old Town, Waterfront has a slight advantage. Hotel was comfortable. Walking to the ship would have been too far to walk for us (we are not noted as light packers) and certainly not in the temperatures we hearing about now. But it was a quick, easy cab ride. Snowcat1 Posted July 20, 2022 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2022 Sabrefan, I think we are on the same cruise, Homeland May 29 - June 12? we are doing our own extensions, but will likely stay in the same hotels as Viking uses.
sabrefan Posted July 21, 2022 Author #6 Share Posted July 21, 2022 Thank you for the replies. Snowcat, we are staying in Oslo on 5/27/23 and 5/28/23 then taking the train to Bergen where we board the ship after the train. Looking forward to this trip. kag3120 Posted July 21, 2022 #7 Share Posted July 21, 2022 We stayed on our own at Radisson Blu Waterfront Stockholm for a few days prior to boarding Homelands cruise. We took a cab to the ship even though we only had carryons. We’ll worth the $22! A/C worked fine. Nice modern hotel, well located to walk into Gamla Stan. We cancelled our reservation at the Hotel Reissen due to concerns re lack of a/c and we’re glad we did. Pretty toasty in Stockholm when we were there.
