Didn't you read what you quoted? Your SetSail Pass (boarding pass) is used to "ding" onto the ship the first time. 1

For example, in Baltimore, they always gave us our cards at check in. Now, they're on the door. Whats old is new again. When I started Cruising Royal in 80's they were in the Cabin. Though Door Key then was a plastic hole Swiss cheese looking like Hotel Doors used back then. Room Charge was a laminated flexible card with Name/Info on it. Reminds me: When our oldest started college, she picked up her ID card, which opened her dorm room and held her meal plan money. Her university included textbooks rental in the cost of tuition (SUCH a good thing), and when she went to get her books, they handed her the wrong books. Turns out she and another freshman shared a name (and their middle name is rather unusual!), and the university'd loaded their information/money onto the wrong cards. Easily fixed, but it caused some anxiety for a first-day freshman. The two girls ended up being in several classes together and lived in the same apartment complex junior-senior year -- but they learned fast to look after one another. If you're into lanyards (why are you into lanyards?) you can pick up a fishing license holder in the sports department at Walmart -- or you can order them from Amazon, but you might have to buy half a dozen from Amazon. It's a plastic sleeve that can clip onto a lanyard /you can slide any ID into it. We picked them up to protect our vaxx cards. How can you "ding" onto the ship if your Ship ID is in your room? jp2746 Posted August 4, 2022 #30 Share Posted August 4, 2022 How do you use UDP at Jamie's if you don't have your card? Do they scan your set sail pass?

I don't know why futureAG is into lanyards but I get distracted easily and misplace things. While I make it a point to search for clothing with pockets, sometimes that just doesn't work with female clothing. My daughter has proportions that are difficult to fit so she has very few pockets. I have developed strategies for not leaving a bag/purse behind but my daughter would 100% lose one multiple times every day. A lanyard doesn't get set down and left behind. As the part you quoted said, you use your set sail pass. You know, that paper (or app) you used to check in at the pier? That "identifies" you until you collect your SeaPass. As far as lanyards... I got these: https://www.amazon.com/10-Pack-Standard-Thickness-Specialist/dp/B01GLOUR6K/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=1DFEVTWREJQGH&keywords=badge+gripper&qid=1659639471&sprefix=badge+gripper%2Caps%2C125&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE5WFJDSVBWT0ZLVEkmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAzNTgxMDkzM0ZDNDdOU0NKQ01aJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTEwNDU0ODUyMVVLUlFJRjJPWFpXJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ== We positioned them just off center so the cards could be rung through the machines. They worked really well. I did lose my card twice... once I had tucked it under my shirt because it was windy and the card fell out when I pulled the lanyard out of my shirt (found that one). The second time I think I had leaned against the railing trapping the card between the railing and myself and then pulled away. That's my guess, I never found that one, just went to GS and had them print another one (mine was getting so worn, I was close to needing another one anyway).

For those that still use mag stripes, holes are fine (avoiding the stripe, of course). Those that have converted to RFID, they don't want you to punch a hole because you could punch into the chip. Honestly, I wish they'd either just make the cards with a hole, or print them with a marker indicating where it's safe to punch. We took our first Holland cruise in May - and the room key came with a hole punched in it. Brilliant idea. Which ships have RFID chips? Rare moposh Posted August 4, 2022 #36 Share Posted August 4, 2022 You mean Julie and Gopher aren't there to welcome me and tell me my cabin is on the Promenade Deck? Before I went on a cruise, I thought they were like The Love Boat. 😅 1 1

This is exactly why, just easier to keep up with! Our upcoming cruise is Alaska and while I know its going to be different type of clothing than a Caribbean cruise (and I have done both!) it just seems a lanyard would make things easier. We also have 2 kids (8&5). Trying to figure out how to handle their cards as well. If me or my DH are keeping up with them thats 2 extra. Its been a hot minuet, like 9 years, since we have cruised so just to get my mom brain to remember all the things! And this will be our first with RC.
ATSEAMYLIFE Posted August 5, 2022 #39 Share Posted August 5, 2022 Two weeks ago on Navigator our seapass cards were in an envelope in the mail slot outside our cabin. I had the deluxe beverage package and ordered some drinks prior to actually getting my seapass card. I just showed the bartender my seapass card on my phone.
