However, I am not clear on how to stay in contact with my family members during the time we are on the cruise. Could you please help? For example, if I want to let my sons know that their dad and I are going to the casino and they can meet up with us in the bar near the casino around 8pm - what should I do to pass this message on to my sons? Can I call or text my sons? Thank you. I used to worry about roaming charges and there was 1 day where I forgot to turn off the mobile data after leaving port. I got the following message on the picture So basically 60p a text - so not going to break the bank but would add up over a couple of weeks. The good thing me was that it was impossible for Vodafone to charge me roaming charges. All of the countries we visited were included in our contract allowance and Vodafone wont allow me to use the maritime network - so basically could have left my mobile data on aall holiday and not be charged anything extra. Always worth checking with your provider what is included. 1
emam Posted August 13, 2022 #27 Share Posted August 13, 2022 All the places we visited were also included but I got a charge, though not too big. Leaving Gibraltar I was talking to daughter and we were just passing the runway. We finished the call shortly afterwards. On returning home I got a bill for £10 (my set limit), apparently I had connected to Africa.

Need to turn your phone off whilst transiting the Gib strait as you are too close to Morocco.
jeanlyon Posted August 15, 2022 #29 Share Posted August 15, 2022 I put my mobile data on once I am ashore, but mostly I just use the local wifi.
