Civitavecchia DIY option (not Rome) using public transit?

We'll be at the end of a long trip and have a port day in Civitavecchia (7am-6pm). We've been to Rome a few times, so looking for something lower key and less travel time. Any suggestions for scenic Civitavecchia DIY option (not Rome) using public transit. Otherwise, we might just stay on the ship. Thanks, Elaine

There is a direct bus to Tarquinia with its Etruscan sites in addition to the historic city. Less than € 10.

I would second this. It's really the only good option with public transportation and closer than Rome.

Not sure what day you’ll be visiting. The museum and tombs are closed on Mondays.

You can walk through the town and along the promenade to the end, it's a pleasant walk with a few cafes along the way

We took a cooking class in a restaurant. I don’t remember the name of the place. I found it on trip advisor. They picked us up at the port but we also stopped at a hotel to pick up some people. It was super fun, group of around 12 to 16 of us. We made gnocchi, veal saltimbocca and tiramisu. We had wine included with our meal.
