Rare villagenut Posted September 14, 2022 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Been on several CCL trips but now gonna try RCI for a while. About to book trip on Allure out of Galveston. What is your room type preference and deck preference on Oasis class ships. We usually do Lido deck on CCL but after a little research it looks like some of the mid decks on this class ship may be preferable. Two couples, no kids. TIA! Rare OCSC Mike Posted September 14, 2022 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2022 It’s personal preference. We like to be closer to the locations we visit the most. Others will obviously have their own criteria as far as what they consider preferable and important.
taglovestocruise Posted September 14, 2022 #3 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Three transatlantic crossings and one Caribbean cruise on Oasis Class ships , all have been on deck 12 forward hump. About 75 fewer cabins on deck 12 forward compared to other decks. Absolutely avoid deck 14, way to much going on above you. Allure is awesome. rdtpm64 Posted September 14, 2022 #4 Share Posted September 14, 2022 We were on Deck 9 in the middle (balcony). Very quiet.
Jerseygirl1416 Posted September 14, 2022 #5 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Been on deck 8 in OV balcony and GS. Liked the OV balcony was underwhelmed with the GS. Absolutely love being on deck 8. So convenient to coffee in the morning at Park Cafe, love night caps in Central Park and just nice using CP to get from forward to aft elevators without having to go down those loooong hallways.
Ken at the beach Posted September 14, 2022 #6 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Another vote for deck 8, close to Central Park and easy walk down to Boardwalk (deck 6) or Promenade (deck 5). eck 6 is also good. Avoid deck 7 near the aft elevators. You cannot cross from port to starboard at the aft elevators so if you take the wrong side to your floor you have to go up or down one to cross over

We like Deck 8, 9 or 10 aft right near the Music Hall (or Dazzles). We always do an ocean view balcony.

RoperDK Posted September 14, 2022 #9 Share Posted September 14, 2022 Our favorite location on Oasis class is deck 6 or 8 near the aft elevators. Deck 6 has easy access to the Boardwalk and also has a great overlook to the happenings of the Promenade. Great for when you want to see the activities without having to be in the crowds. Deck 8 has the Central Park Cafe just steps away for coffee and snacks. We also enjoy Central Park and The Trellis Bar. It is just beautiful and relaxing. Our preferred cabin is a Grand Suite 😁 which isn't always feasible. We like Junior Suites on the "hump", a good compromise. An ocean view balcony is also great. We like to see the ocean on a cruise. Welcome to RCCL. We are former CCL cruisers, too.
time4u2go Posted September 15, 2022 #10 Share Posted September 15, 2022 Deck 6 for sure! You are within two decks of so many things.
barb in ga Posted September 15, 2022 #11 Share Posted September 15, 2022 Another vote for deck 8! Love Central Park and as mentioned before it makes a great place to go from one end of the ship to another. Barb
bruzin_for_a_cruizin Posted September 15, 2022 #12 Share Posted September 15, 2022 And yet another vote for deck 8 on Oasis-class here. Central Park is perhaps my favorite space on the ship. Park Cafe is fantastic for grabbing coffee in the morning to enjoy on the balcony, and you're on a deck where walking up or down stairs isn't too much of a challenge. I managed to avoid elevators almost completely on our recent Symphony sailing (took it going up from deck 2 coming back from tiring excursions). If you're booking a balcony, try to get the hump cabins. The balcony space is much larger.

davy jones Posted September 15, 2022 #14 Share Posted September 15, 2022 IMO - it is personal preference. Your preferences may differ from mine. That said, if there is are passenger cabins above, below, and around my cabin, the deck doesn't matter. Like most, we spend the day mostly on the upper outside public decks and the evenings mostly on the lower public decks with the restaurants and entertainment venues. Under those constraints, we're either closer to our activity in the daytime or nighttime, so the net "closeness" is the same. Besides, any extra walking or stairs is probably better for us. handbellplayer Posted September 15, 2022 #15 Share Posted September 15, 2022 We prefer 7 or 8. You can easily use the stairs for all but the pool and Windjammer. Also a cabin near the stairs/elevator, if possible. Those hallways are LONG!

Completely agree here. DH and I just got off Symphony last Saturday, had an oceanview balcony room on deck 8 and loved it. Loved the cabin, the quiet balcony, the convenience of being on deck 8 and walking through Central Park to get from one end of the ship to the other. BTW Symphony was the BEST! Review coming soon (I hope).
