Jerseygich Posted October 16, 2022 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2022 I know we cannot bring an electric steamer on the cruise but has anyone ever used an electric one? If so could you share the information on it. Thanks

Rare BirdTravels Posted October 16, 2022 #5 Share Posted October 16, 2022 If it looks like a heating element on an x-ray, it will be confiscated. If it ultrasonic, it may pass. Best advice: no one cares if you have a few wrinkles. Dress comfortably. You're on vacation. Leave the steamers at home.

Rare Traveling Fools Posted October 16, 2022 #7 Share Posted October 16, 2022 (edited) We have taken one aboard on a cruise From Barcelona to Venice with no problem. Took it with us because we spent time in Europe Pre-Cruise. Edited October 16, 2022 by Traveling Fools

They'll ask you how long you think you'll need to use them. If you tell them, let's say, thirty minutes, they're going to be knocking on your door at 31 minutes to retrieve them. That way, they have good control over the usage, and don't have to worry about the person(s) who bring their own, use them, forget to turn them off, go about their merry way, and potentially start a fire. I remember when NCL was trying out coffee makers in every cabin, and we were required to rotate them out for inspection and servicing, and one of them caught fire in the electrician's shop. The most common failure of things with heating elements is the "auto-off" switch, that everyone claims is the key to safety.

Rare BermudaBound2014 Posted October 17, 2022 #15 Share Posted October 17, 2022 I just hang stuff in the shower. If I'm feeling motivated I spritz it with a bit of downy wrinkle releaser.
