mike45orlando Posted December 3, 2022 #27 Share Posted December 3, 2022 (edited) On a recent Indy cruise they had a soft rock Filipino band playing REO and Journey type hits all night in Boleros. Not overbearing and quite nice. Edited December 3, 2022 by mike45orlando

Plenty of other places for quite, and conversation on Oasis Class. Ya missed my point. It interferes with half of promenade inc the karaoke across as well as shops etc sorry Boleros needs to be enclosed area as others nearby deserve to enjoy their space too and Boleros should be bigger. NCL has issues with their large atrium where 4to 5 venues all have overlapping noises at it becomes one heck of a time.

bonsai3s Posted December 3, 2022 #30 Share Posted December 3, 2022 Onboard the Navigator...Boleros is, and has been, a popular venue every night. Boleros is on Deck 4, portside, just outside the casino, Starbucks directly across, and the MDR towards the aft...no issues with loudness. * There was a "Noche Latina" night in tbe Promenade this week...with outstanding live latin music. Passengers were cheering for more...but the band had to take a break. (I promised my wife that I will learn how to dance Salsa...but it may be difficult with 2 left feet.) 3

It's a latin club so it follows that the extended latin family and friends camp out there. Yup....saw this years ago on Oasis class holiday sailings that had a heavy Latin clientele.....kids sleeping on the floor in the corner of Boleros at 1am while the rest of the family partied. Do you recall the name of the Latin band? We had Latin Dream, from Cali, Colombia, on Enchantment earlier in the year, and they were excellent. I knew they went to another ship, which might have been Navigator.

I suggest learning Merengue first! Easiest, and IMO, the most fun, and most likely to draw people onto the dance floor. DH calls it "1, 2", that's pretty much all you need. And the music is great. Glad you got a good band.

I've been known to order a Diet Coke or two in Boleros. Good thing I'm not a teen. 😀 Pulling chairs together for kid naps seems a little over the top. I can see families wanting to enjoy the evening, but there are some limits I think. At least it was not an entire takeover, or you would not have been there from 5:30 to late at night to witness it all. Maybe he commented about it because on the royal website it lists age restrictions of 18 and 21 depending on where you are sailing from.

Good point. I was aware of that restriction and thought it was about consumption of alcohol as opposed being in the lounge or sitting on a bar stool.

Don’t know how anyone could sleep through that racket. I ordered a drink and was happy to leave. Who would of thunk it?? In a bar that has music performances every evening? Lol. Bolero's always had a nice crowd on Anthem last week. My favorite bar bar for evening enjoyment.

coaster Posted December 6, 2022 #43 Share Posted December 6, 2022 Best Bolero's was on Empress. Large space with a great espresso bar. First stop in the morning for me and many of the officers onboard. Beautiful Cuban decor and a nice outdoor space on the aft of the ship.

The Fun Researcher Posted December 6, 2022 #45 Share Posted December 6, 2022 Luck of the draw. We ran into the same issue on the Oasis way back in 2015. Really turned us off. NOTHING against South American or Latin based cruisers but on our particular cruise their kids were regularly running around the promenade at 1am (maybe a time change issue), some just camping out/ laying down in some of the middle carpeted promenade areas, in the bars, etc... It felt like we could never get any quiet, chill time even very late at night. I love the idea of large family/friend gatherings but be considerate of others who want to use the common spaces, bars and lounges. Thank goodness we tried another Oasis class, (Allure) this past summer because there were little to none of these issues and we had an amazing 8 night southern cruise. Joseph2017China Posted December 6, 2022 #47 Share Posted December 6, 2022 Kind of funny, but my kids when they were kids, would have the soda package. On a regular basis, they would slide up to the bar, order themselves a cold one (soda) and move on. There is a difference with a bar on land, and a cruise ship, that is filled with families. Everyone has fun their own way, and the bars are the only place to serve soda (Please, kids don't want to carry an cup around all day).
Rare jean87510 Posted December 6, 2022 #48 Share Posted December 6, 2022 never stop being amazed at what irritates people on cruise critic. Kids in Boleros lying on floor. Unoccupied chairs with towels for hours on the pool deck. Waiters who talk too much. Room attendants who are so far away one needs to yell down the hall, yoga pants, shorts in MDR, tank tops in MDR. Usage of phones or any device which uses wifi. 🤔
ldubs Posted December 6, 2022 #49 Share Posted December 6, 2022 IDK, it is a tough one. Seems like anyone has just as much right to occupy a space as anyone else. Fact it may cramp someone else's style doesn't change that.

Other than the kids laying down on the floor in Boleros I don't think any of your examples were mentioned. We're super easy going, but like anyone we eventually reach a point where something becomes irritating. Must be nice to be impervious. 😊
