Hi there all, question please. We are cruising b2b at end of the month. Quantum.
Thursday I called RCCL and purchased OBC.
they said they would email receipt/details etc.

it has been cleared in by bank but I have not yet received the email and it isn’t showing up on my booking at all. Should I call again or would this take a certain period of time to show up?
Thanks in advance

Have you logged in to your account to see if it is shown there   They are very slow e mailing but sometimes the work has been done  they just have not told you

Just wondering, why would you buy yourself OBC?

You have to give them a CC or a Debit Card to cover costs over any free OBC they give you anyway.

Your card is then your personal OBC isn't it?

Onboard costs are in USD on Royal Caribbean so it's a good way of protecting yourself from exchange rate fluctuations, especially if the cruise line exchange rate offered is favourable.

Interesting, would never have thought about that option.

Thanks Julie.

Thanks everyone. All sorted.  They did send documentation with details/receipts but went to my T/A.
And for people wondering why I got. If I wanted to get cash for casino or whatever it was about 66c thru travel ex or Aus post etc (to take cash) . if I put on c/card and got bank to convert it is anywhere between 66-68c and thru Rccl I got 69c .. (no c/c fees or anything) not much difference I know but so much easier just to make the call and it’s then on there for when we cruise. If we don’t spend they will credit it back to my card on which I paid for it with. (Which won’t happen 🙈) on the ship currently , the casino will offer you 60c and guest services 51c 😱

if all that makes sense. Anyway I just find it easier to have on there before we sail.

Thanks Julie.

There was a lot of chat about it in 2016 when Princess were offering very, very advantageous exchange rates and we were doing a repositioning cruise up to Hong Kong - when onboard costs were still USD for those repositioning cruises. I made a nice little profit on the OBC we didn't use as they refunded it at the real exchange rate, not the rate they sold it at.
