Rare crewsweeper Posted December 22, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 22, 2022 Seeing off another social media thread from someone on board the Legend that they announced a Man Overboard around 12:30 AM Tuesday then 30 minutes later called for a stretcher. Person never hit the water...just landed on a lower deck. Appears to have not survived. Ship went to Freeport to debark family and body.😢 Do know anything more. maybe some one on Legend can chime in if true.

Yankeegirl49 Posted December 22, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 22, 2022 I’m on the Legend and that’s exactly what we have been told has happened. No other information was provided (nor should it be IMHO).

I'd be way too scared to do that, even if tipsy. It's just way too dangerous. There are some colorful comments in the comment section though lol.

There's no way anyone can accidently fall from one deck to another unless they're doing something they're not supposed to. There are scenarios where people can trip and fall from stairs which happens on land and at home quite frequently, but that's a totally different type of accident. You hear all the time now about people are putting themselves in dangerous situations trying to get selfies and the perfect photo. Just last week there was a report of a man falling off a cliff as he was trying to photograph his wife. They had to get a rescue team to go down the side of the mountain to retrieve his body. All for what? A photo?

Talk about a "killer shot" eh? It happens way more than people realize, lots of stories like this all over from CA, NV on down to the Grand Canyon over the years. At least those make some kind of sense, sitting on a cruise ship railing flirting with death does not. It seems you have to protect people from themselves these days or its "foreseeable". We should probably enjoy the ships as they are today, they may not provide the same experience in the future. There is a reason why Cosmo, The signature at MGM, Palms Place (plus a few others) are so popular in Vegas vs the glass cages. I suspect we will see less direct over water options and more of some type of disguised people catcher devices to prevent long falls, who knows. balcony bound Posted December 24, 2022 #10 Share Posted December 24, 2022 Years ago on a NYE cruise we were on, a crew member (dancer) who should have known better, climbed on a railing to take a photo and went overboard. Never recovered. Horrible end to the evening for everyone.

DallasGuy75219 Posted December 25, 2022 #14 Share Posted December 25, 2022 Had something similar happen while I was on the Ecstacy several years ago. Man pushed his wife/girlfriend over their balcony. She hit one of lifeboats going down and her body fell onto the (Promenade?) deck.
Yvetteaug Posted December 26, 2022 #15 Share Posted December 26, 2022 We are on the ship now readying to disembark. The man and his wife had a domestic dispute and he jumped hitting the lifeboat and eventually dying. He had a 38 yr old son with them and I can only imagine the heartbreak and sadness that will accompany this young man and his mother all the days of their lives. Our prayers go out to them.
