Do you know if Carnival carries any unpeated ones or would they be over $20 ones anyway? if you don't like a peated scotch, try Glenlivet Founders Reserve or Aberfeldy 12. Carnival should have both of these, and they are included with cheers. The Aberfeldy 12 is a go-to low cost bottle for me at home. I quite like it. 1

The question wasn't about whether it was worth it or not. It was simply how much a $24 drink would cost under Cheers.

And at $21.24 after tip, no matter how good that 24.00 drink is, I'd pass and enjoy a cheaper substitute (or 2 or 3) that's included with Cheers. Since I don't drink champagne or scotch or will drink cheaper rum or tequila, I'll never have this dilemma.

Also, sometimes the 'extra fee' items are a good way to try an item you have been curious about, but don't want to blow $100 and up on a bottle in case you don't like it. So the 25% off does make sense.
allinwonderland Posted January 4, 2023 #32 Share Posted January 4, 2023 But the verdict seems to be - even though you have to pay basically full price (only 25% off), it does count against your included 15 (because everyone is only allowed 15 drinks no matter how they pay for it, yeah yeah...) I like nice champagne so might be tempted by that $22 glass, but not if it's going to count against my 15 AND I have to pay basically full price! Might as well just splurge on a whole bottle at that point. 🍾

See, I understand from a revenue perspective why they'd want to cap the number for those on the drink package (even if only a small percentage of people would ever go above 15, as it's a decently high number as to suffice for most hard drinkers), even if just so their financial projections are cleaner. But even then there are tons of ways around it to drink even more on any given day - bottles to the room, buy bottles of wine, drink in port... Any place that serves alcohol has the right to say "sorry I won't serve you anymore" if they think you're over-served, I don't see why a cruise ship is any different.

I would be fine with them giving a hard limit and permitting NO alcohol in the room (incluring carry-on) unless purchased from them by the glass or through cheers for this exact reason . EngineCo52 Posted January 8, 2023 #36 Share Posted January 8, 2023 you will be charged at the discounted rate and it will not count against your 15 in the cheers package

The enforcement of that rule is inconsistent though, as are most things Carnival.

Probably depends on the person if they're acting stupid or hammered they will cut you off early. but we have definitely gone over our 15 limit since we bought things that were over the $20 price tag or buckets of beers. but we all were respectful or didnt act like a drunkard lol
Rare ibarrio Posted January 13, 2023 #40 Share Posted January 13, 2023 Blanton's for $15 (Steakhouse) is more than reasonable. Cheaper than any bar or lounge in the Phoenix area.
justafem Posted January 13, 2023 #41 Share Posted January 13, 2023 Buy fishbowls! They count as a single drink. I bought one on my first cruise and bring it every time to have it refilled as needed. My booze bill is low.

It was a little harsh for me but I am not a quitter! I figured I just needed to get used to it. After about the 3rd day of getting a glass to sip before bed, the bartender pulled out a bottle of Aberfeldy 16! Oh it was like liquid heaven (and included in Cheers). I spent the next few hours at the atrium bar sipping on that. I even bought a bottle when I got home. This was on the Sunrise. I never got around to trying the Glenlivet. They said the casino bar probably had it but I wasn't interested enough to make a trek there.

Glenmorangies are quite nice too - the more years the smoother, as you'd expect. I think I have seen them on board, but can't be sure. ooh, I vaguely recall The Macallan should be on board (not sure which, offhand) - that's a somewhat overpriced non-peated Speyside in your liquor store (I'd buy a Bunnahabhain instead), but by the "glass" should be easily within the Cheers $20 limit.
