jsf Posted December 28, 2022 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2022 Am I wrong , you used to be able to the let cabin person know ahead of time how you wanted your cabin beds set up. Lately we have to be lucky enough to track him/her down and request that the beds be apart.Could be I'm thinking of Celebrity but I thought RCCL somehow did this at check-in. smokeybandit Posted December 28, 2022 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2022 You can call RC/TA and have it noted on your reservation though you may need to tell your room steward none the less
Rare island lady Posted December 28, 2022 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2022 Simple call to C&A on the phone to request your preference. I think the default is "beds together". It is usually done when you book the cruise.

You now simply ask the cabin steward during the first encounter.

Rare brillohead Posted December 29, 2022 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2022 It doesn't matter what you request, they always have them together. I just leave a note on the bed and the room attendant takes care of it while I'm at dinner. No need to chase them down, just leave a note.
Rare HappyTexan44 Posted December 29, 2022 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2022 I can see this being a huge problem when they switch to once-a-day service. The before you moved in clean would count as the clean for that day, so they wouldn't be back that day.

The phone rep can still do those requests. Just have to call. Having that request done in advance helps the cabin attendant not to have to make the bed twice during busy TAD. Excellent idea. 🙂 Much better than having to do it during check in time if still together when you check into the cabin.
villager70 Posted December 29, 2022 #11 Share Posted December 29, 2022 Cabin steward comes back on duty at around 3pm and has there clip board where they start going from cabin to cabin checking in for special needs, dining times, request for ice, etc. they will be in area also from early seating time making nightly turn down through 9pm when they disappear.

Seems to work well and they don't need Sherlock Holmes to decipher my hand-writing.

Soooo simple to just call CS on the phone ahead of time as well, with cabin attendant following up if needed.

The issue seems to have been getting that request to the ship/steward. Not sure calling will make that process any more reliable than the previous online option where the feedback suggests it didn't get to them very often. So far mine has always been spot on....but then again...we like beds together, which I still believe is the default. And they still always ask me on the phone if I want together or separate. At least they get our other requests correct....errr...most of the time. 😉

The phone rep can still do those requests. Just have to call. Having that request done in advance helps the cabin attendant not to have to make the bed twice during busy TAD. This isn't the case anymore. I think they bring in other staff (from below decks) to help set up rooms for TAD, so ALL rooms are "bed together" no matter what, to streamline the process. In October, I was doing a B4B on Explorer, and I had one room the first week, and the room next door the following three weeks. I had made arrangements with my room attendant to move my belongings into the closet of the new room after the previous occupants vacated the room on the morning of TAD. He ALREADY KNEW that I wanted the beds separated (because I'd had them separated the previous week in the other room), but he told me that he would break the bed later in the day. One would have thought it would be a lot easier for him to just make the bed up originally with it separated, but I don't think it was JUST him involved in the process... so the default is "bed together" for every room no matter what, because there isn't a good way to make those preferences known to whoever it is that will be setting up the bed. So calling the 1-800 number or getting your reservation noted at the time of the booking isn't going to make any difference -- just leave a note and it will be taken care of later that day.

Good luck getting someone at Guest Services to answer the phone, especially on boarding day. Still much easier to just leave a note for the room attendant.
