Opinions on Century Needed

Last night I booked a 5 night Western Caribbean cruise on Century and would love to know people's opinions on her. This will be the smallest ship we have sailed on so far. What did you love or not love about her? What is not to be missed? We will be celebrating my boyfriend's 30th birthday onboard, the cruise is my birthday gift to him. I want to make it as special as possible. Thanks for your help!

Great ship! Review of Galaxy below is pretty close (sister ship) then review of 2 day Century. When are you booked for? She will be going through a huge updating process and lots of new things being added.

Unfortunately, you will not get an accurate review. This Spring she is getting a facelift. New balconies and suites added, the spa is being expanded, they are adding a specialty restaurant, and they are redoing all the cabins. They believe she will compete well with the newer ships on the market, but with a more intimate feel.

So realize she will be better than anything you will read here.

CENTURY is our favorite ship! You will love it. She is getting a facelift in April, ready to go at the end of May. If your cruise is after May 30, then you will be cruising on virtually a new ship. Right now, she is a very elegant lady, with an intimate feel. We have met some wonderful people on CENTURY, and I think the size makes that possible, too. The thalossotherapy pool is GREAT! They have a nominal charge for it, but it's absolutely worth it.

We love the Cova Cafe, and have capuccino and iced chocolate there at least once a day, and before dinner drinks in Rendez-Vous Square, where a band plays pre-dinner music and has a small dance floor.

Happy Sailing~

We will be sailing in December. Does anyone know where I might be able to get more in depth information about her facelift? What exactly will be done? I am very hopeful for another wonderful Celebrity experience, our first was simply phenominal!

I hope that wouldn't mean the size of the cabins would be changing would it? I know that is probably a stupid question but I've never been on a ship after drydock. I only selected an inside since the cruise was short and they were decent sized insides.

Just got off her...there is not a single thing that needs repair enough to detract from a wonderful cruise.

She can only be better after dry dock...I would sail her again tomorrow with no hesitation.

With or without drydock, she's a wonderful ship with a great crew.

Two Nicki's make this tough.

Regarding the Thalassotherapy Spa it will be no more on the Century.

Regarding room size, they are not changing the size of the rooms. The balconies will be added to the outside of the ship.

i didn't think so but thought I'd ask. I found through another thread the layout that shows a huge gap on the Plaza deck between midship and aft. Is there a section of the plaza deck that you cannot walk from the front of the ship to aft on that deck?

Tech---go to Celebrity web site. There is extensive info about Century's drydock. She was our first ship and we love her best, after Zenith. Take a nightlight unless you want to sleep through breakfast. Otherwise inside is fine. Have a great cruise!

Sorry I missed your post before Danno. If you say she's an excellent ship it must be so. I'm just so glad to have something to look forward to. A year's schedule without a cruise is a lonely sad year :-(

Century is wonderful! We were on the same sailing as Danno, and we fell in love with the ship. In fact, we booked a 5 day in Dec (Dec. 11th) while onboard because we want to see what she's like after the drydock.

The ship is the perfect size, and the service was the best I've had on land or sea. The wear and tear on soft goods was not enough to detract from the fun, and it will be fixed during drydock anyway.

Here's a link to their press release from December which has info on the drydock.

thanks very much for the link and the wealth of information everyone. It's only a 'shorty' cruise but I'm very excited about it. Can't wait to get our Captain's Club information so I can add that to our reservation. What are the 'welcome gifts' like for Captain's Club? I know that with Royal Caribbean it was a toiletry bag, sometimes I was told a fanny pack or the like. Is it similar for Celebrity?

Only gifts that we received are tied to Celebrity Reunion cruises. I don't think your sailing is involved. Celebrity is more reluctant to offer anything but a glass of champagne at boarding time.

That large area you cannot walk through is the kitchen. They are putting the specialty restaurant in the plaza deck on the midship side of the kitchen

CC gift?? Not that I've ever seen...sorry.

From Celebrity website...Benefits for Classic Members, including welcome amenity, gift with purchase at the Steiner's AquaSpa® by Elemis and certificates for the Celebrity casino

I was assuming that the welcome amenity was the gift BUT I am guessing it's the coupon book like you get on Royal Caribbean as well huh?

We took our second Celebrity cruise on the Century. We had an inside cabin and thought it had enough room. Ours was 9 nights long and I never felt claustrophobic. I remember receiving some casino coupons for being Captain's Club members.

This Christmas, we had the highest category of outside cabin (not including suites) on a HAL ship. It was a great cruise, but the thing I missed the most was not having a refrigerator.

We were just notified that we are assigned a CC cabin with one of the new verandahs for an upcoming Baltic cruise. We are looking forward to being suprised. You can never go back to the shock and awe of a first-time anything.....so it will be like that for us on the "new" Century.

Hi Nikki,:) I have sailed Century 3 times and she is my favorite ship.

She is classic and she also has a wonderful homey feel...with

a wonderful ambiance.

I will be sailing her again after the "overhaul". Hopefully she will

still feel as good to me then.....

I recommend her to you in a heartbeat:)
