rockjock75 Posted January 14, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2023 Has anyone been successful in getting your Nixplay picture frame to pair to your phone app using the ship wifi?
CDR2001 Posted January 14, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2023 No experience with this device, but from our 3 cruises, onboard WIFI was usually weak. I had difficulty sending photos home via a messenger app.
Jim Avery Posted January 14, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2023 And it would count towards your two devices per cabin.

I have not used a Nixplay, but if you are asking about photo upload capability only, my experience is that shipboard WiFi is usually quite good - strength and connectivity. Internet connectivity is a whole different issue due to satellite reliance and is often inconsistent (true across all cruise lines). 🍺🥌
philw1776 Posted January 14, 2023 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2023 VO (and VR) should link up to SpaceX's Starlink service and provide higher bandwidth to guests.

Affirmative, but as is being experienced on the current WC, the marine coverage area for SpaceX is not extensive. Many coastal areas still await coverage.

So far, only RCCL has declared that they are converting to Starlink, based on a very positive trial. It's a bit early days, as the service is still only available on RCCL in coastal areas. Expansion plans for coverage seem to be throughout 2023 - and coverage for Central/South America and Africa is TBD. The system took a bit of a hit in a solar storm a while ago, losing 40 birds. All that said, the service looks very promising - light years ahead of the current services. It also appears that it will be a massive money-maker for the cruise lines - not expensive for them, but a fine opportunity to sell us enhanced internet service. I'm willing to pay - others may well differ. 🍺🥌
