Millygirl Posted January 15, 2023 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2023 We're cruising with my parents and just noticed we are booked in a deluxe balcony (husband's casino offer) and they are in a regular (18 cabins away). I see that we have a small couch in our stateroom and they do not. My Dad spends more time in the room than any of us because he rests more and likes to read in there. I'd like them to take our cabin. Can we simply speak with our room stewards to make the switch on ship, or is there something official I need to do? Rare Essiesmom Posted January 15, 2023 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2023 I believe you would have to arrange it with guest services, and I think I have read here recently you can have them program your medallions to open both rooms. EM
mtnesterz Posted January 15, 2023 #3 Share Posted January 15, 2023 Agree with above. Passenger Services needs to switch the room accounts. If this doesn't work both your satisfaction and you're on Grand Class ships, we find Skywalker's is great place to read. Also, Wake View on Sapphire and Diamond. geocruiser Posted January 15, 2023 #4 Share Posted January 15, 2023 You might want to get the a deluxe balcony too. When you go to a regular balcony there is only one chair to sit on. For us, we both need a place to sit. And if you are told that you can get another chair, well that is a hit and miss deal. So, if one of you wants to stand or sit on the bed, then keep the balcony, if not then upgrade.

I found the balcony to be the best spot for it, when the sun is not beaming down, of course. I hope your dad enjoys his cruise and his books. For some odd reason, the sofa wasn't very comfortable on our Enchanted cruise 2 months ago. Both DH and I commented on it... Dh and DS prefer to be propped up with a bunch of pillows in the bed instead. But yeah - Guest Services should be able to help you.

During the day Skywalkers is quiet as will many other areas on the ship, especially the lounges and the bars. Even other outdoor spaces in the shade along the top deck and other areas are lovely spots to simply relax and read. Hopefully your dad will try some of these other spots around the ship to read so at least he's not in the room by himself. Have a lovely time on your vacation!
