Djptcp Posted February 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2023 We just booked the Freedom for a 5-day cruise in April and when we went to order a bottle of liquor for the cabin, we could only order beer or wine, no liquor. When did this start?? Coincidentally, when we went to order a bottle of liquor for a Holland America cruise in October, 2023 there were only 6 choices (1 rum, 1 vodka, etc.) with a huge price increase. There used to be many liquor choices. Holland is owned by Carnival Corporation. We were able to order a bottle for our Jan. and Feb. 2023 Holland cruises, but those were ordered in late 2022 with the many choices.
supaflyrobby Posted February 13, 2023 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2023 I ran into the same problem the other day.. Error message said it was too close to the day of departure, which is ridiculous since our cruise does not leave until Jun 12th and here we are in February. It did still allow the purchase of beer and wine, but no hard alcohol.
mz-s Posted February 13, 2023 #3 Share Posted February 13, 2023 Carnival is now only allowing you to buy liquor for the cabin for cruises 7 days and longer I believe. Too many behavioral issues on the shorter cruises. https://www.thestreet.com/travel/carnival-cruise-line-changes-unpopular-beverage-policy
Rare 1025cruise Posted February 13, 2023 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2023 It has been like this for awhile. You can only prepay for a bottle on longer cruises.

scoobysnacks70 Posted February 13, 2023 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2023 You would fall over from the sticker shock anyway--the bottle of Jack was $135 and after fees was $160!

You might survive if you realize how 1 liter of Jack isn't any cheaper at the bar.
