Rare BlerkOne Posted March 2, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2023 They look good to me. A little more readable https://www.carnivalcorp.com/news-releases/news-release-details/carnival-cruise-line-expands-popular-europe-offerings-2024 Given the instability in the world, and how fickle Americans are, the ports look like good choices. At best, a cruise ship only visits a port for a few hours. You can visit a port many times and still discover new treasures each time.
SummmerInKefalonia Posted March 2, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted March 2, 2023 The ports are exactly the same for 10 years now... Such less variety in ports and cruises considering they have only one ship in the area.
jsglow Posted March 2, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2023 Honestly OP, what would you have Carnival do? They send one ship over to Europe and try to capture all the 'normal' cruises in a single season. I personally think they do a solid job. Want something more exotic? CCL has multiple brands to choose from, some of which have a much greater commitment to Europe every year.
CruiseFan94 Posted March 2, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 2, 2023 These itineraries are sooooo bad! Seriously the itinerary planning department of Carnival has the easiest job in the world! Make the same itineraries over and over...

stobe1 Posted March 2, 2023 #10 Share Posted March 2, 2023 Borning? Anything but... Port intensive and physically exhausting? Yes, definitely. We did a European cruise when I was in my 20's with my parents. Even back then with me being a young whippersnapper I was physically exhausted each and every day. I swore off port intensive European cruises and only travel to Europe to either do Transatlantic crossings or land based European vacations.

I believe that I am incorrect on that front. I think the lack of Fjord cruises is probably because they changed the requirements in 2024 for the pollution so I doubt Carnival's oldest ships meet that criteria. I suspect the people who think it is boring are saying that because they repeat their itineraries every summer. Many of the cruisers go on B2B2B....and so on...so if they have done even 2 or 3 of the itineraries for a couple of years or more, they have probably ran through all of the possible itineraries. they want to see something different. My husband refuses to take off for more than 3 weeks until Carnival gets better wifi so we have yet to make it through all of the itineraries. Rare Eli_6 Posted March 2, 2023 #13 Share Posted March 2, 2023 I talked to my husband and I think we are going with the May 30th sailing. I have an FCC that I have to use by August 2024 that will pay for at least one room and I have a companion flight ticket with British Airways that expires June 2024 and another that expires November 2024 so this works out perfectly. We will have all been to Barcelona, and he and I have been to Rome (albeit, in 2008), but everything else will be completely new to us on this sailing and several of the ports are places I have been waiting to see...like Pompeii and Pisa.

We are looking to do a 2024 cruise of the fjords. I guess I need to pull the trigger on the Royal Caribbean one I have been eyeing while the Carnival schedule wasn’t out yet. LibertyBella Posted March 3, 2023 #17 Share Posted March 3, 2023 I am also already checking out these itineraries. The truth is, Carnival's prices are terrific compared to some other cruise lines. The challenge is going to be the cost of the air. I am going on a Princess cruise to the Mediterranean (Rome) this Summer and the air is close to $2000.00 pp!! There are lots of great cruises posted for Europe 2024 across all lines, so I have to consider what really appeals the most. Not sure of London air RT cost, but maybe it is a bit more competitive....
Rare EllieinNJ Posted March 3, 2023 #18 Share Posted March 3, 2023 I am so happy I booked the Norway cruise for this June with a b2b Western Europe cruise. As it is only my second Carnival cruise it wasn't cheap but a lot cheaper than other cruise lines.

Point is, we haven’t had Europe itineraries from CCL for the past 10 years. I believe Carnival's slight presence in Europe is reflected in the excursion choices. I have 3 Carnival cruises in Europe this year, and for my 21-day B2B in July, there are still no excursions at all offered for 3 of the ports. For other ports, there may be as few as 3 options. I will find something to do in the ports with no or only unappealing options, and I will have a great time. But excursion options are a big part of my planning, and I have been a little disappointed for my 2023 cruises. Despite Carnival's prices being an excellent value, I will not be canceling the European cruises I booked on other lines for 2024 -including one to the Norway fjords. 😀 I am hoping that other lines with more experience in Europe will have more options. Actually, for a Celebrity cruise, I was able to review excursion options for that specific cruise before committing to the cruise. And now that I have booked the cruise, I can book excursions for Sept 2024 while still waiting to see if Carnival will come up with anything for some of the ports in July 2023. After my 2023 cruises, I plan on writing reviews on Carnival's site about the excursions I took. There weren't many reviews when I was making my choices. I hope to be able to provide useful information for others as they make their decisions. I hope everyone finds a great itinerary and has a wonderful cruise! And as soon as you see an excursion you like, book it! Carnival just posted big price increases for mine, and I saved a lot by booking them early. They are refundable if you change your mind. Rare Eli_6 Posted March 3, 2023 #20 Share Posted March 3, 2023 @Joanne G. I also have been discouraged by how few reviews there are for many of the excursions. I hate investing $600-800 for our family of 4 in an excursion and it turning out to be a dud and not only wasting the money, but wasting the only day we have (or may ever have) in that particular port. In some of them that do have reviews, one or two have even said "take the train instead of this excursion...it is only a bus ride and you get more time in town by going on your own." coffeeboy77 Posted March 3, 2023 #21 Share Posted March 3, 2023 (edited) Carnivals European offering is rather pedestrian when compared to other lines. The ports are ok but I don’t know how excited I am to fly all that way to board the Legend. If you don’t compare against what MSC (for example) is offering (hardware, itineraries, and price), I think you’re doing yourself a disservice. Be honest to guest services about a dud. If it is a dud, and nobody enjoyed it, encourage others that also booked it to tell guest services. Guest services will do an almost complete refund, if all the guests complain about an excursion. Usually they sit and wait 24 hours to give you a response. If a lot of people have the same complaint, they'll refund it. Edited March 3, 2023 by ashkir
