latebuyer Posted March 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 3, 2023 Does salmon in Alaska taste different? I’m from bc so we have quite a bit of salmon. I was debating what to eat in alaska. I was thinking chowder or dungeness crab legs then my mom mentioned salmon. I’m thinking i’d go out to eat in juneau.(I did not like the king crab legs at Tracys) however the salmon at annabelles in ketchikan sounded good. wolfie11 Posted March 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 3, 2023 This is the same salmon you would get in BC. I have eaten salmon in BC and in many parts of Alaska. The species can taste different (king doesn't taste like pink), and the way it's cooked may be different, but it's still the same salmon.
latebuyer Posted March 3, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted March 3, 2023 Thanks Wolfie. I did see a king salmon sandwich at hanger on the wharf in juneau so i guess i could consider that.
shellunderwater Posted March 6, 2023 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2023 In the US, the usual choice is between Atlantic salmon and Alaskan salmon. I largely prefer the Alaskan salmon. Of the Alaskan salmon, I love chinook. But I will always pick wild caught Alaskan over farm raised.
