sirclean Posted March 16, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2023 I sail in 3 days and have abundant credits. Id like to use some to restock my Future Cruise Deposits. In your experience, is that a possibility?
Buckeye10640 Posted March 16, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2023 No you cannot use OBC, it charges directly to your credit card
Rare Coral Posted March 17, 2023 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2023 (edited) Not directly. You can go to the casino and play some of your OBC and then cash out the rest. You can then buy a FCD with your credit card. Then pay your credit card off with your casino cash out once you get home. sirclean Posted March 17, 2023 Author #4 Share Posted March 17, 2023 That sounds interesting! Please let me know the details of using OBC at the casino? Do I have to do something first (before the cruise), or can I go to the casino directly to cash out the OBC?

You can get the money by charging to your on board account. Enough said.
milolii Posted March 17, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2023 We just go to a slot machine. Using the medallion, load an amount- say $50.00. Then we play a game or two, and hit cash out. Go to the cashier, say we want to cash out, tap medallion, and collect balance.
Bobbiegentry Posted March 17, 2023 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2023 The casino is NOT an ATM. Please don’t abuse.

In your experience, is that a possibility? As @Buckeye10640has replied, you cannot use OBC to buy FCD’s as they are fully refundable thus why they are not charged to your on board account but to the credit card on file or any other credit card in your name you wish to use. As I have reported in another thread regarding the Casino and using OBC, the Princess official policy has always been, it cannot be used in the Casino, but currently you can. A passenger earlier this year shared a conversation he had with the hotel general manger who said the Casino will be updating its accounting system, so charges will not go against any OBC, so this loophole is set to close, when we do not know. NCL has had this rule in place for a long time, so any charges in the Casino, will not reduce any OBC in your account. There have been reports on some ships if it is obvious you are using the Casino as an ATM, you will be blocked and possibly have charges reversed.
sirclean Posted March 17, 2023 Author #9 Share Posted March 17, 2023 Thanks for the added information. AS an alternative, I dont usually buy alcohol. How much can I buy and bring ashore tax free? And how much are taxes after that?
melodyina Posted March 17, 2023 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2023 (edited) from my past experiences, the answer is 'no' as the FCC is never applied to your shipboard account, The FCC is charged to your credit card registered with the cruise you are on, immediately. I have had some luck, with purchasing a FCC to a different credit card presented in-person when making the FCC deposit. I load some $ into a slot machine, say $100 & then get the ticket out of the machine & cash it out. I’ve done that before with no problems. As posted previously, time is running out, we just don’t know how much sand left in the hourglass, if you understand what I mean.
