bikevegas Posted March 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2023 Never cruised on HAL before and wanted to know if you can get a table for two in the main dining room ? No, we are not anti-social but sometimes just want a nice dinner with just the two of us. Thanks in advance for your reply!
YXU AC*SE Posted March 21, 2023 #2 Share Posted March 21, 2023 Yes. It can be requested w/ your fixed dining reservation when you book -- or accommodated through 'As you wish' / anytime dining option. Scott.

Often it will be a 4 top that they have removed 2 places from. You can also stipulate (at a 4 top) how you want to sit - across the table, or beside each other. Enjoy your cruise. jimdee3636 Posted March 22, 2023 #5 Share Posted March 22, 2023 The likelihood of getting a fixed-dining table for two is greater if you request late dining (usually meaning 8:00PM). Early fixed dining is almost always more popular.
greensprout Posted March 22, 2023 #6 Share Posted March 22, 2023 For anytime dining (walk in whenever and may need to wait a bit depending on the day/time) absolutely yes. Hub and I often request a table for 2 as this is our getaway and reconnection time away from the everyday home stuff. Never had an issue, whether booking ahead or walk in.
crystalspin Posted March 22, 2023 #7 Share Posted March 22, 2023 You should request a reservation time and table size before sailing through your PCC or travel agent. We had Anytime Dining on our 16-day B2B in Dec/Jan of this year. We were never able to get seated in the MDR -- great lines of people with pagers on either side of the MDR entrance! We watched the menus on the Navigator, and when we saw Lamb Shank (DH's favorite) near the end of the cruise, we thought maybe the push had lessened. So I called the reservation number and was told the only availability was very late and at a large/shared table! On the bright side, the Lido was never chaotic, and the specialty restaurants were all pleasant.

What time did you attempt to eat in the MDR where you saw the seemingly endless lines of people waiting? Were you not willing to wait at all?
