Debbierpof Posted April 9, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2023 Looking to book a fishing trip while in Ketchikan this June. Any recommendations? I've read about Reel Alaska Fishing Charters. Thanks in advance!
wolfie11 Posted April 10, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2023 All the charters fish roughly the same areas. I've been a few times and always caught fish. The halibut around Ketchikan are mostly on the small side (15-20 lbs) and you are allowed to keep one. Check if your ship has an option to cook it for you on board or you can have it shipped home. I also enjoyed the fishing and wilderness dining excursion where you fish for a while and then stop at an island where they cook up the fish and serve it with sides and trimmings. diesel1973 Posted April 10, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2023 If you decide to ship it home it is very expensive.
Suzanne123 Posted April 10, 2023 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2023 My husband did the Fishing and Wilderness Dining excursion three or four times. If I recall, I think he mentioned that he was able to hold the rod whereas some fishing trips the guys had to take turns. Here’s a picture from one of those trips in 2010. ermedchyc29 Posted April 13, 2023 #5 Share Posted April 13, 2023 We are fishing for salmon with Alaska Strike Zone Sportfishing in June. They got great reviews everywhere. They do have Halibut charters as well. Happy fishing and tight lines!
