DJLDRUMS Posted April 13, 2023 #1 Share Posted April 13, 2023 Would deck six be too close to the lifeboats if staying in a mid ship cabin when looking down or would you say deck 7 is a better choice being in a mid ship cabin? Thanks in advance to those who reply
RTShaker Posted April 13, 2023 #2 Share Posted April 13, 2023 (edited) Deck 7 is by far a better choice. Also some areas of deck 6 port side can also be affected by the smoking area on deck 5. Edited April 13, 2023 by RTShaker
helen haywood Posted April 13, 2023 #3 Share Posted April 13, 2023 If you are on the middle hump on deck 6, you will not see the lifeboats…you are jutted out over them. 2

But if you aren't do I gather looking straight down from a deck 6 balcony you'd be looking on top of the lifeboats? Question Helen, I'll assume the balcony doors on the Silhouette are the same sliding doors like other balcony doors have as opposed to what the E Series ships have. helen haywood Posted April 13, 2023 #6 Share Posted April 13, 2023 Yes, the S Class all have regular balcony doors. Go to here and use the Drag Deck feature to see for yourself. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/

Here's some pics from deck 7 over the lifeboats. Deck 6 would be obstructed as you can see. It would be more like looking at the lifeboats, not on top of... So in your opinion for the Silhouette, skip deck 6, possibly 7 or how about deck 8 for a less obstructed view, after the hump but still midship thoughts anyone? My go-to is usually 8 or nine, but really not much wrong with 7. Here's a deck 8 view. Pics are a little dark...

Never thought of that, we have just booked 6236, which is the first cabin off the ‘hump.’ The invoice states the obstruction as 0%.👍 Edited April 14, 2023 by upwarduk

Those 4 cabins have large balconies which is great. The view of the lifeboats below never bothered me.
raudacruise Posted April 14, 2023 #15 Share Posted April 14, 2023 I spent 8 days in Silhouette’s Covid Jail on deck 6. I’d pick deck 8.
TMLAalum Posted April 14, 2023 #16 Share Posted April 14, 2023 If you want a view directly down to the sea, then go far forward on Deck 6 on S-class ships. Look at a photo of an S-class ship to find forward cabins on upper decks that also have an unobstructed view of the ocean, because those directly above the Deck 6 forward have a slight blockage. Mark_T Posted April 17, 2023 #17 Share Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) It really does depend on just how much you want to look straight down, we don't generally find there is much to see down there... If you look out from the slant hump cabins on deck 6 then this is what you will see... Edited April 17, 2023 by Mark_T
