I found it very good overall but a bit lacking in a few key areas. First, they implied that a lot of things were included that really are not. Couldn't they just admit that alcohol, sodas, spas, special activities like rock climbing, ship purchases, and shore excursions are extra?

Second, they really did stress going on a ship sponsored tour rather than going off on your own adventures.

Finally, they really glossed over bad days at sea. Sometimes you just can't avoid the bad weather.

What's with the muster drill they showed? Have ships ever really done it the way they showed (i.e. actually have people get into the lifeboats?) I was amazed they showed that, and then it appeared that they lowered the lifeboat down to the water!!!

I'm not very experienced (only 2 cruises under my belt, LOL) but I would be surprised if this ever happens.

Nealberk, I agree with you, but didn't you all think it was an overall advertisement for Norweign (sp?), Princess and Windstar cruises?

I watched it, just to see the ships though!
It was somewhat informative, good for first time cruisers I suppose.
I waited and waited and finally in the closing they show one tiny peek of a CCL ship. LOL

It was nice to see the inside of some other lines' ships. Those windstar or windjammer ships are sooo tiny(I knew that they were small sailships but sheez!) and have no evening entertainment..... But I guess you get to see some very remote islands that you couldn't see if on a big ship.

If I were a newcomer I would assume the following based on this show:

1. I need NO cash on board.

2. I WILL miss the boat unless on a ship sponsored tour.

3. If there is bad weather the ship's crew will entertain me and the captain will sail somewhere else.

4. As already, mentioned EVERYTHING is included except tips!

5. There are only three cruise lines, Princess, Norwegian, and Windstar. I guess that other really big line doesn't exist.

I found it to be very generalized and not enough detail. They mentioned the FAQ's but really didn't give definite answers. The one question that is probably most important to some people is "How much does it cost?" their basic reply was "various amounts". Well DUH!
It struck me as a paid advertisement for the aforementioned lines. All good and gloss over the not so pleasant.
As they say, "where's the beef?"

You noticed that too?

They did have a few quick shots of Celebrity and Carnival but overall they concentrated on the three lines. It would not have been bad (big ship, little ship) but the Princess and Norwegian ships were almost identical in amenities, size, and atmosphere. It would have been nice to add a premium line, highlight the midsize ships, or add some other differentiated characteristic.

They didn't dare quote prices. With prices all over the place, it was a major disappointment to see them say that if you book early or late you get the best deals (but book early....) and repostioning cruises are always cheapest (but how about airfare when you are not doing a roundtrip?)

At least they did say that you should not expect to pay only $400 for a cruise (although we all know it can be done) and that the ultra-premium suite on the NCL ship was mega-expensive.

Oh yes, they did highlight the kids programs on the Princess ship (what, nobody else has kid programs?). I wish they would have added that some of the ship activities are perfectly suited for BOTH parents and kids, though.

I much preferred the special two hours later on the RCI ship. One ship, but it was far more informative.

Anybody have any connections with the Travel Channel? I am sure I can show them how to do it right.
