19vican59 Posted June 10, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 10, 2023 (edited) Looking for best recommendations for getting from our London hotel (near Tower of London) to the Southampton cruise terminal. We are arriving 3 days ahead of the Regal Princess departure on June 25. It was necessary to book our own hotel as all of the Princess pre-cruise hotels were on a waitlist. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Edited June 10, 2023 by 19vican59
Island2Dweller Posted June 10, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 10, 2023 The train from Waterloo station (a short taxi hop away) to Southampton takes about two hours. Example, the 1005 departure arrives at 1200. Loads of taxis at Southampton central for the hop to whichever quay your ship is berthed on. If you book an "advance" ticket now, it will cost £21. Those tickets are valid on the reserved train only, zero flexibility. A flexibile ticker, valid on any train that day, is £35. A car service is also an option, and is of course door to door. That will cost much more (perhaps £200) and won't be quicker
19vican59 Posted June 10, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted June 10, 2023 Thank you for the good info! We've been checking into the train option (although we will have 1 large suitcase/1 carry-on each for both me and my husband). The car service offered at our hotel is very costly (almost $490 USD). There has to be some more affordable options!
Joe&KayCruisers Posted June 14, 2023 #4 Share Posted June 14, 2023 We used International Friends when we got off the Regal a few weeks ago and transferred to London. We stopped at Salisbury, Stonehedge and Windsor Castle. Obviously that won't work going to the ship. But they do have a transfer/tour that stops at Stonehenge if that interests you.. Look on Trip Advisor and you will see that one as well as other options. Enjoy your cruise!
