hapytobehr Posted June 21, 2023 #1 Share Posted June 21, 2023 This is the first time I booked a cruise with a PVP (casino offer) and was told that it is a guarantee cabin and it would be assigned automatically. All my previous cruises (over 20+) I had booked myself. I only did it because she kept calling as we had nothing booked. I did call my PVP to ask about it and she said it will be assigned but could be up to the day of the cruise. This makes no sense as my luggage tags need to have a room number in order to be delivered! We are less than 2 weeks from sail date and still says "stateroom 1". Has anyone else experienced this and if so, when did you finally get a room assigned? BTW-this will be the last time I book with a PVP.
skrufy Posted June 21, 2023 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2023 (edited) No need to worry, the baggage handlers will have your cabin number and fill out your luggage tags. Don’t blame the PVP. They can’t do a thing to get you your cabin assignment. Edited June 21, 2023 by skrufy Addition
ray98 Posted June 21, 2023 #3 Share Posted June 21, 2023 You are worrying about nothing. It will be assigned before you board the ship. In the rare event you do not have luggage tags they will be provided by the porters who have the cabin list.

I would never book a cruise not knowing what cabin I would be in and relying on the porters to fill out my luggage tags. But that’s just me. That's me too! Hence, the reason for my question and calling my PVP!
evandbob Posted June 21, 2023 #5 Share Posted June 21, 2023 I have booked a few guaranteed cabins, but after getting the most forward, tiniest inside cabin ever, I chose to book specific cabins - nothing to do with a PVP. The general rule is if saving money equals or betters any distress that an assigned cabin would give you, it's okay. If there is a cabin you would never pick in the mix, then don't check a chance.
firefly333 Posted June 21, 2023 #6 Share Posted June 21, 2023 I've booked last minute and had to go to the main baggage handler to get my cabin once..but it's very unusual not to know in time to print a luggage tag. I wouldnt worry but that's me and ive done more cruises than you. Dont worry about what you cant change is my motto.

If the only rooms for that casino offers left were the "TBA", there was nothing the PVP could do to change that.

I need to pick my cabin and know exactly what room I’m going to be in from day one.
Rare travelingtink Posted June 23, 2023 #9 Share Posted June 23, 2023 (edited) I could care less what cabin I get. I book the guarantee cabins often. It’s no big deal, as others have said the porters can add your cabin number. Heck a lot of times I don’t even print those darn tags and just get them from the porters. Many offers, not just those from a PVP, are guaranteed within the category you book. Has nothing at all to do with the PVP. Rare ninjacat123 Posted June 23, 2023 #10 Share Posted June 23, 2023 I have never booked a guarantee cabin but it could be an option in the future so it's interesting to read the feedback here. 😊

hapytobehr Posted June 26, 2023 Author #15 Share Posted June 26, 2023 Our cabin was assigned today and it is an interior Havana which came as a surprise to me. While that was assigned, my pre-bookings disappeared. (WI-FI, Dinner reserv. and water purchase). I was able to confirm on the phone my pre-board purchases with the fun shops so all is good! Thank you all for your reassurance! 5 days and counting!

I used to book balconies when sailing with my sister, excuse she liked to sit out and read. I prefer to move around the ship and people watch. But I lost her last year, so I am back to gty’s. But I speculate. Last year I saw that the Esctasy was being replaced by Spirit for a short time in JAX. I quickly went online and booked an inside, 1A gty, knowing that the cabin category I booked on Ecstasy did not exist on Spirit and I would be upgraded, possibly to the 4K picture window (formerly French door) inside. And that’s what I got. One time on Celebrity, I booked a partially obstructed balcony on Silhouette. A few days later they ran a special, gty balcony for the price of an inside. That saved me $1200 and I got a great unobstructed balcony. In 2018 I booked us an OV gty on MSC Seaside. I knew there were 40 OV cabins in my ‘experience’, but over 1300 balconies. We were assigned a balcony. I am booked on the same ship for August, did an inside gty and already assigned a partially obstructed balcony. Pretty far forward with metal balustrade instead of plexiglas. Works for me. EM

Rare Haljo1935 Posted July 2, 2023 #19 Share Posted July 2, 2023 As some have said, it's usually best to book a guarantee only if you're willing to accept the worst possible cabin in your category. That way, if that's where you end up, you're not disappointed and if you get the best one, you're ecstatic.
