The next cruise I see in Alaska spreadsheet is a Pacific Coastal from LA departing on May 10. Is it likely that Sapphire will do a couple of Hawaii cruises at this time? Sorry, I just saw there is a 32 day Pacific cruise. I’m assuming you are seeing this because you are Elite? If so, I need to contact Princess. They updated my status but I can’t see the 2025 cruises you are seeing.

If they’re asking the same in-depth questions they have no business asking like they did when we started to apply for a Brazilian visa prior to 2019 when they dropped the requirement, we probably won’t be going on the cruise. https://apnews.com/article/brazil-us-tourism-visas-lula-bolsonaro-e206025994b64fa5695484b99a807971 Edited July 28, 2023 by Ken the cruiser
BabsinTX Posted July 28, 2023 #257 Share Posted July 28, 2023 We've cruised to Alaska several times and did a long driving trip up there, too. Once we took Viking NB to Seward, rented a car and toured some of the state, then took NB Golden Princess back to Vancouver. If you have the time, it's well worth it. And Hubbard Glacier is magnificent!

We're OTOH getting excited about the possibility of applying for eVisas after the new Oct 1, 2023 rules go into effect, to include submitting the form completely online with a lot less information required, a lot cheaper, and you don't have to be interviewed at a Brazilian embassy. Of course, we really won't know for sure what options will be available until the new rules go into effect in October. But since the cruise isn't until Jan 2025, a lot can change from now and then. Fortaleza is a waste of time. We did enjoy the time in Rio. In Winter 2018, the stop southbound was timed for Carnivale and that was quite an experience. Otherwise, Rio is a risky place to be, but can be enjoyed if careful etc. Having experienced it once, no desire to return. Now, the leg from B.A. in the other direction, I'd jump on to do that over again.

I booked a suite yesterday for the 51-day SA cruise and am getting $2300 from Princess. Seems kind of out of whack, though I have to say the suite prices were very low. I figure out the cost per day on our cruises, and normally they are around $1,000/day. The 51-day cruise works out to about $606/day. Go figure. S.A. sector has some of the lowest per day cabin costs.

But from our point of view it’s more about the journey and Brazil is one place we haven’t been that we’ve wanted to visit, but without having to get a YF shot. As far as being a waste of time, I doubt that as we will be booking PCL excursions at every port and seeing places we’ll probably never visit again. On top of that, we’re booking a Penthouse cabin on this 18-day cruise for about $325 pp/day, including the Plus package, after subtracting all of the OBC we’re getting from PCL and our TA’s discount we’re getting. 😁 As far as the leg from BA in the other direction, we’re doing that this coming January as a B2B combined with an Antarctica cruise. We chose to board in Buenos Aires instead. (I had also been to Brazil in the past.) Brazil's foolish visa requirements are said to be reciprocal due to our requirements. Brazil conveniently ignores the fact that many Brazilians illegally immigrate to America on tourist visas, which Americans don't do to them. Meanwhile, this will cost them a lot in lost tourist revenue. Edited July 29, 2023 by Teechur
