barric Posted September 20, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 20, 2023 We sail Megaviglia in NOV and have questions about the tv. We seniors like to sleep to something on TV that is not exciting or dramatic. 1. Do tvs have input for AV or HDMI accessories? DVD players or streaming sources. 2. Do Yacht Club rooms have a DVD player? 3. Does the television come with any channels such as History, Science, Smithsonian etc? I have a portable DVD player but it only has an 8" screen. When we travel I can usually plug it into hotel tvs for decent viewing.

MPH711 Posted September 21, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2023 Are the TV’s Samsung or something else? I will be on Seaside and after watching some videos I saw some Samsungs but also saw another brand with no brand name on its frame.

I’m not sure about the inputs for attaching a DVD player or any external device, but here are the channels I recall from my MSC cruises in the past year: CNN or CBSN, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery, Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, ESPN Caribbean, and sometimes a second ESPN channel that also showed some NFL, MLB, NBA, NCAA games at times. All of the TVs I had automatically shut off after a certain amount of time after no input from the remote (change the channel, volume, etc.). I didn’t time it, but it seemed to be 2 or 3 hours. So if you sleep with the tv on, you will likely have to turn it on again once or twice during the night if you wake up when it goes off.
GA Dave Posted September 21, 2023 #7 Share Posted September 21, 2023 I tried to hook up to a TV on Meraviglia and there are HDMI ports, but they are disabled. Not sure if there is a way around that.
smile145 Posted September 22, 2023 #8 Share Posted September 22, 2023 My room on Meraviglia in Yacht Club had a Samsung TV but it was mounted flat against the wall and there was absolutely no way to access the HDMI ports, you could not move it away from the wall at all.
