MikeNKim Posted September 22, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 22, 2023 Totally my fault but hoping for a solution i am a Canadian citizen cruising mid Oct. I wrongly thought my Nexus would be ok to get on the ship. Apparently it isn’t. No problem, I have a passport. CRAP my passport is only valid till April so my cruise date is only 5 months from the expiry date instead of 6 months. anyone have any related instances and you could still get on the ship? Honestly don’t care if I can get off at the ports or not just want to get on the ship. any insight would be greatly appreciated. kim

I have this list of countries that technically require the 6 months. But with your passport only being checked when you board I have seen that not enforced at times. The countries listed here require you to have a passport with a period of at least 6 months upon arrival: Afghanistan Algeria Anguilla Bahrain Bhutan Botswana British Virgin Islands Brunei Canada* Cambodia Cameroon Cayman Islands Central African Republic Chad Comoros Côte D’Ivoire Curacao Ecuador Egypt El Salvador Equatorial Guinea Fiji Gabon Guinea Bissau Guyana Indonesia Iran Iraq Israel Jordan Kenya Kiribati Laos Madagascar Malaysia Marshall Islands Micronesia Myanmar Namibia Nicaragua Nigeria Oman Palau Papua New Guinea Philippines Qatar Rwanda Saint Lucia Samoa Saudi Arabia Singapore Solomon Islands Somalia Somaliland Sri Lanka Sudan Suriname Taiwan Tanzania Thailand Timor-Leste Tokelau Tonga Tuvalu Uganda United Arab Emirates Vanuatu Venezuela Vietnam Yemen Zimbabwe
MikeNKim Posted September 22, 2023 Author #3 Share Posted September 22, 2023 Thank you. The website is a bit unclear. 1 place is says it is recommended and another says you have to have it. I guess I am off to the passport office Monday. 😩
Rare Illbcruzn4life Posted September 22, 2023 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2023 Can’t speak about Canadian passports but if going on a closed loop cruise your passport is ok when you get off as long as it is not expired.

On all Carnival Caribbean cruises, your passport simply needs to be valid to the day after you return.

I assume the same thing applies to U.S. citizens with a U.S. passport.

kdr69 Posted September 23, 2023 #10 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Plenty of time to renew. Turnarounds only about 2 weeks.
