jilro Posted September 23, 2023 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2023 Any suggestions on what to do in Sydney ? Do they have cabs at the port to do last minute tours? Looking to see local places and non tourist attractions. Thanks
Rare LHT28 Posted September 23, 2023 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2023 you might find something on the tourism site that interests you https://www.novascotia.com/places-to-go/regions/cape-breton-island/sydney
Rare martincath Posted September 23, 2023 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2023 While Sydney itself really doesn't have much it's by far the most convenient port to visit two of the best attractions in the province - Louisbourg Fortress and the Cape Breton Miners Museum. A cab would be hella pricey, with distances of 20-30miles per leg, though possibly still better value than a cruise tour bus excursion unless you're a solo(!); a rental car is by far the most efficient way to visit them but you may struggle to find one at a decent price if your trip is this fall... Watergal501 Posted October 6, 2023 #5 Share Posted October 6, 2023 (edited) We just returned from Sydney last week, and took a Cabot Discovery Tour. They were easy to book and have different tours to choose from, depending on how long you are in port. Our guide was knowledgeable and very accommodating. We took the Great Scots Tour, which included time on the Cabot Trail. The view were amazing! https://www.cabotdiscoverytours.com Edited October 6, 2023 by Watergal501

TMLAalum Posted November 11, 2023 #7 Share Posted November 11, 2023 How feasible would it be to visit the Highland Village Living Museum in Iona when in Sydney? Possibly a rental car?

Possibly a rental car? Totally possible but you'd definitely have to rent a car. It's about an hour away from the port.
