They are either cutting a port on multiple cruises because of engine issues, a desire to save fuel, or due to incompetence booking the ports. I wonder which company Royal wants to be here. RCL is not taking the high road. Unfortunately, this will most likely be my last RCL sailing after over 20 years of sailing RCL.

Ticket prices for a couple of hours insane. If we go to Disney, we do independent of cruise. Then we might take a cruise a few days later from Port Canaveral. Remember if you don’t get transportation from cruise line and for whatever reason get delayed, you can miss the 🛳️ I get it, but I think you missed my point. Someone mentioned they get into PC at 6am due to the itinerary change. IF RC amended a Disney excursion to take advantage of the early arrival time, one could effectively have more hours at the Kingdom. Not a couple of hours. Then it might be worth it. Either way, I would be upset with the itinerary change that only included 2 ports from NJ, but I’d try to make the best of it.
mkmaj Posted September 28, 2023 #57 Share Posted September 28, 2023 Not really. Disney doesn't even open until 9am, so you'd have maybe 4 hours if all aboard is 3:30? I don't know how that compares to the usual days but doesn't seem like much.

Who knows what the heck they’re doing… I know; they are perpetrating fraud. Their website is selling those cruises listing all three ports. Many empty cabins for 12/3 and 12/10. They want to sell as many as possible before they post a cancelation. I believe they are fraudulently selling some that have already been changed but still list all three. And, while it's on my mind, the most vacuous response to this dilemma is "I prefer a sea day anyway." Have you ever really thought about the logic of that answer? Any day on a cruise can be a sea day - just stay on the ship. And if large groups of passengers went ashore in Port Canaveral or Nassau, it would be an even better faux "sea day." Genuine question here...I've always assumed that the multiple sea days in either direction between NJ and FLA were more about money (casinos, shops, drinks) than speed. Does it really require "extra" speed to sail there in one day? Just wondering why its all of a sudden and only Anthem if it's NOT a mechanical issue. Wouldn't it be better to cancel one cruise (probably mine) and fix it? ...or no for the exact reason I said?

If it is an issue with an engine they could be planning on taking one of the 4 engines offline in order to fix it. That could certainly reduce speed enough that would cause an itinerary change. BTW its more than a days sail. 764 NM between NJ and Port Canaveral. At 22knots thats 34 hours but at 19 knots its 40. That is also going full speed point to point so ad time for docking and slowing down, speeding up.

RCL ship is not in working order, yet they will still do nothing for their curstomers and they are at fault. That's like saying AA will sell you a flight, get you on the plane, and ooopsie, you will not be going to your destination because an engine is out and we are going to take yourself somewhere else instead. haha. That would be the day...

She had to find another flight on a different airline the next day as the original airline would not get her a seat for 6 days. And a cruiseline is not going to add time to a cruise absent weather delays, where an airline will.

Ken at the beach Posted September 28, 2023 #69 Share Posted September 28, 2023 Compensation While your clients still get to enjoy their day onboard Anthem of the Seas, to help make up for the missed port, we will provide you with a one-day (1) cruise fare refund in the form of an Onboard Credit. This will automatically be added to your SeaPass account on boarding day. Any unused portion will be refunded to your credit card associated with your onboard folio. For more context, one of the ship's four engines requires maintenance which impacts our speed.
