cruiseagona Posted October 1, 2023 #1 Share Posted October 1, 2023 Starting to think about my Hawaiian cruise and am wondering what works best with the washing machines on Crown Princess. Can I use a washing machine POD and just dump that in with the load of clothes? And how about the LAUNDRY DETERGENT SHEETS? Do they get the clothes clean. Or should I just stick with buying detergent on the ship? TIA.
Clampram Posted October 1, 2023 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2023 I took pods with me on our Hawaiian cruise in March. Prior experience is that the vending machines empty quickly and are not refilled all that quickly. I take my Bounce with me too. I don't want the hassel of going down to customer service for any of that stuff. I also purchase more tokens at the beginning of the cruise for the same reason
BabySarge Posted October 1, 2023 #3 Share Posted October 1, 2023 I take pods because they are easy to pack and my own dryer sheets; oh, and because my DH tends to be a stain magnet, I also take spray and wash in stick/solid form. I have seen others use the laundry detergent sheets with mixed results (not always dissolving).
Clampram Posted October 1, 2023 #4 Share Posted October 1, 2023 The other item that I always carry is Shout Wipes. I use these when travelling to immediately treat a stain so it doesn't set. These wipes work terrific and I learned to use them when I travelled for work. There are always a few tucked into my handbag. They have also been used to rescue strangers in restaurants that have dropped food/drinks and they always get a smile

We were on the Crown to Hawaii in February and the washers and dryers were free.
Rare LACruiser88 Posted October 1, 2023 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2023 We use the below sheets, one per load. They work great and are easy to pack.
pompeii Posted October 1, 2023 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2023 Both detergent sheets and dryer sheets are easy to pack and work great.
good42n Posted October 1, 2023 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2023 I took Earth Breeze sheets (cut them into quarters and used 2-3 per load, depending on how full. Got the clothes clean, and was easier to pack than powder or pods. I use them at home also.
whee-sailing Posted October 2, 2023 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2023 I use Tru Earth laundry detergent sheets all the time, travelling and at home. I tear them up into several pieces before I toss them in and have never had any problems with them not dissolving.
