Priority isn't via an earlier check-in time, but a priority line in the terminal for check-in. After check-in opens, there is usually a short delay till boarding starts, and they will call those with priority boarding ahead of those with no priority. Thanks, very helpful. We're a group of 12 - 2 x platinum, 2 x gold and the rest blue. Do you think us two platinums will be able to bring all the others with us to the platinum line (maybe wishful thinking). My daughter wants all the kids to board together so they have the exciting experience together. If need be, we'll go into their line 🤔

As long as you stick together, it is normally OK for boarding. If you are checked in before boarding starts, first call will be for elites & suites and platinum will be in the 2nd call. I'm in a mini-suite but it doesn't seem to have affected my check in time. Could your cabin be pending due to an upgrade bid in process? I've got a mini on Emerald deck with a covered balcony so nothing special. They are not usually very concerned with boarding times here in Melb. Once they get the go-ahead they just process whoever is in line. Never been asked for my boarding time that I can remember on Princess/P&O or Carnival. Pre Covid Princess used to board according to your deck level and room status. Plus the priority elite line of course.

No didn't put in for an upgrade so hope nothing untoward happens. I want my covered balcony.

At the OPT there is usually a separate queue for priority check-in, after that you used to be given a boarding group card with a letter on number on it. Priority boarders got letters and those were called first.

I have an uncovered balcony - rookie booking mistake for a first-time Princess cruiser. It never occurred to me that a balcony could not be covered! Glad it won't be hot. I know others that used a pen to quickly change their 1 to a P. Interesting to see how that goes now, as there is no requirement for a printed boarding pass. A good chance they will go back to cards. OPT has the priority line at the top of the escalator for check-in, but not always at the door to enter the terminal. I would be curious to know how things went at OPT today.
