Mustang2015 Posted December 3, 2023 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2023 Hello we just got off of Oasis of the seas. Noticed Pot smell on our balcony at all times. Even POT smell in public areas and bathrooms. Overheard some other cruises bragged how easy it was to sneak on some weed in Nassau on board and how Carnival is cracking down and Royal Caribbean is not. We alerted security they said its like trying to find moving fish in a ocean, difficult to find the violators. Just curious anyone else noticing this. I dont have an opinion for people who chose to smoke pot in there own privateplace I do have one in public places like a cruise. Had a wonderful cruise food was by far the best we had since start up, service was outstanding.
dbancroft Posted December 3, 2023 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2023 Just off Anthem this morning did not smell weed but someone nearby kept smoking cigarettes on their balcony. Also very hard for security to do anything.
Rare island lady Posted December 3, 2023 #3 Share Posted December 3, 2023 I was sent a bottle of wine from an officer that asked to come into our cabin to be able to peer around our balcony to see the pot smokers next to us. They were busted...not once but twice. 30 1

fizzywm Posted December 3, 2023 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2023 It was pretty blatant on Freedom last week. I smelled it on the promenade deck smoking section and in the pool area.

No, they were still there at the end of the cruise. Not sure what the officer gave them as a fine.

He probably gave them two bottles of wine for some of their pot. 6
George C Posted December 3, 2023 #8 Share Posted December 3, 2023 I remember back in the late 1980’s the cruise director told everyone to smoke or flush everything before going thru customs 😁😁😁
MD_Dan Posted December 3, 2023 #9 Share Posted December 3, 2023 I smelled pot several times on our early November 2023 B2B (Allure and Odyssey). I don't really care until it is blatant. One guy made me laugh though ... The ship was moving so he opened a pool deck side window. He stood right in front of the window but the air was blowing in. He would have been better on the aft section of running track. It amazes me that they think nobody detects the smell of pot. But I imagine a day the RCL has a pot smoking section. That would make two reasons to avoid that area!!
toxicfairy Posted December 3, 2023 #10 Share Posted December 3, 2023 With it being legal in so many states now it's pretty much everywhere. I personally don't partake, couldn't if I wanted to, I have asthma. HOWEVER I'd much rather smell pot smoke and get a Lil buzzzz than have to smell cigarette smoke that lingers and the smell catches on everything! Also the people smoking weed are going to be much more mellow than the people trying to get their monies worth out of their drink package😉 11 2
Rare HappyTexan44 Posted December 4, 2023 #11 Share Posted December 4, 2023 You would think it would be easy to catch people smoking in the public areas. Don't they have every inch of public spaces on video? It really bothers my sinuses as does cigarette smoke. If I see anyone smoking, I'll video it and report.

Maybe cruise lines will follow.

SeaDome Posted December 4, 2023 #16 Share Posted December 4, 2023 It seems like we are always near pot smokers, especially in aft balconies. I’m getting tired of the constant weed smell and people who blare their Bluetooth speakers on their balconies.

True, but a-la "Pulp Fiction"/Amsterdam it may be legal but you're not allowed to just spark one up in the casino.

lovesthebeach2 Posted December 4, 2023 #24 Share Posted December 4, 2023 We’ve noticed smelling pot many times on local cruises from Florida. So far though, we’ve never noticed it on European or TA cruises…

A big no no and the store owner can lose their business license, which are rather hard to come by.
