Hi

I was wondering if anyone has done any of the excursions on their own and have and prices and names on who to contact. When I looked at some of the excursions CCL has to offer they are pricey. I saw a gondola ride on-line on one of the sites for $62 dollars a person. CCL wanted $99 a person. So if anyone has any good suggestions about tours that they have independently book please let me know.

We have a large group gathering to book tours on the July 18th sailing . Go to that roll call and read the threads. You will find many possibilities in all the ports. Happy hunting.

I'd recommend Salvatore with DriveAmalfi for your Naples stop (*****). He gives a great tour of Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. He can also arrange other tours on some of the other Italian stops. He arranged a great private tour for us in Florence as well.

 

For Cannes, we used Dream Tours and friends used Revelation Tours. Both are good and have the same basic itinerary. Alain at Dream can be contacted at infos@dream-tours.com

 

All of them will make recommendations but will customize the tours to whatever your group wants to do. You'll probably need at least 8 people to make it worth the money but it is a lot less expensive than Carnival and you get to see so much more.

 

Friends did the Carnival excursion to Capri and Pompeii and said it was good. Also heard the Taormina/Mt.Etna tour through Carnival was good and was reasonable.

 

If you go to the Ports of Call board for Europe, you can see how many people recommend the tour operators. Good luck! You'll love it.

When are you sailing? Have you checked the roll call for your sailing? Our roll call (5/19/2006) is a gold mine. We have many groups with private tours organized and people arranging ride sharing to and from the pier.

 

Go to your roll call and I'm sure you will find people looking for others to fill out private tours that they have arranged. Or be a trailblazer and arrange a couple of private tours and fill them with the new friends from your roll call.
