sseibert3 Posted January 19 #226 Share Posted January 19 BTW - WiFi is much improved over Alaska cruise last July. Face Time with Daughter in Houston was great.
canadarocks Posted January 19 #227 Share Posted January 19 Interesting. We had the opposite experience from @jlawrence01 earlier this year. After spending 31 days onboard a HAL ship, we were very surprised by how fancy most everyone dressed on Formal nights on our 14 day Sky Princess cruise. To each his own. 🙂
Rare ottahand7 Posted January 19 Author #228 Share Posted January 19 (edited) They will get turned away for jeans on Gala night. Sometimes I do a dressy top and some blingy sandals. I bring one long dress. @bandect I would say to the depth you like Italian food would be your guide. I think that the new menu is not as compelling and I said to John I kind of found it meh. He said we couldn't recreate our wonderful waiters on the Volendam. ( Our server Sui was wonderful). It wasn't that but it may have had to do with Chef Javier on the Volendam. canadarocks Posted January 19 #229 Share Posted January 19 The more we cruise the more I realize that so so much of our "satisfaction" on a cruise is based on the cruise staff. Whether it be in the dining rooms, in the bars, or in the entertainment staff hosting the various games. And as @ottahand7 says, the Chef!
Rare ottahand7 Posted January 19 Author #230 Share Posted January 19 (edited) As our tradition in St. Lucia we would always dine on our balcony to enjoy scenic cruising in Soufriere Bay if we were in a Neptune Suite. The day was of off and on rain squalls so I decided to set us up inside on the coffee table dragged in front of the balcony door, orange table cloth and all. John chose tradition and grabbed his room service food for the balcony. Sail away was smooth with a beautiful rainbow following us. As soon as we left the harbor the ship got into a gale. John had to grab his food and get inside. Here is my set up. Medium rare tri-tip with mashed and roasted potatoes. Plus a wimpy Caesar salad. Beef was great and usual room temperature warm. We brought the orange table cloth as we had planned on balcony dining a lot but this has been a very breezy cruise overall. I wonder how they are liking it up there in the cabanas this week. This post may be garbled having an issue with CC. Fingers crossed. Edited January 19 by ottahand7

Rare ottahand7 Posted January 19 Author #232 Share Posted January 19 Today's Daily Activities. In port with a Celebrity ship. They got the good berth close to town. Balcony reading time for us today. Much less wind! We were here last March on the Volendam and took a long tour. I will share those photos later today. 1

Rare ottahand7 Posted January 19 Author #234 Share Posted January 19 We were in today's port Dominica at the city of Roseau. For a long time I thought Dominica was Dominican Republic. Not at all alike. Dominica is known the Nature Island. We are not touring today as we did a long HA shorex last March as we were ending our Grand South America on the Volendam. As a last minute thing I booked us on a multiple stop bus tour that took to a lookout way over the city and to the ship, next was a trip to a small botanical garden then up into the mountains for another beautiful stop to overlook the island, a stop at a waterfall and finally a Carib native Ecopark for a show and a vegetarian lunch. This tour is for photography buffs and nature lovers. John enjoyed it also because a lot of bus time was punctuated with serene stops and gorgeous views. 6

shippmates Posted January 20 #240 Share Posted January 20 Hope the air conditioning is fixed before I get on board Tuesday. I can not wait to get out of this cold snowy snap we are having in PA. Last year we got about 5 inches of snow all winter and this week we have gotten about 10 inches. Way more than I want. Enjoy the rest of your cruise and hope to see you on board.

Rare ottahand7 Posted January 20 Author #242 Share Posted January 20 Last night's dinner in Tamarind. John had sushi, shrimp tempura and steak. I had fried soft shell crab, tempura and crispy duck. It was yummy as usual.
Rare ottahand7 Posted January 20 Author #243 Share Posted January 20 Today I'm St. Kitts. It was an off and on rain with wind at first. We did the culinary excursion and it was perfect for my strength level and to get us off the ship for a while. We drove about 10 miles out of town to an old now refurbished sugar cane plantation. We were given a tour and then sat down and the chef did her thing. Vegetables, Jerk pork loin, grouper with vegetables, red beans and rice and topped off with some wonderful bread pudding. Then back to ship beating the next round of showers. A nap so I stay awake for 2 football games tonight.
canadarocks Posted January 20 #244 Share Posted January 20 We are doing the same St Kitts culinary tour on our Princess cruise before we board the Eurodam, so I'm happy that you liked the food. And based on your recommendation, I reserved us the last Over Water Bungalow in Roatan. Really looking forward to that splurge. Thanks so much for your daily updates of the activities, etc. You're awesome! 🤗 1

My friend will be so thrilled to know he can get his Pisco Sour on Eurodam in March!! This was so kind of you to track down this question, especially since it's not exactly of universal interest to our fellow CCers!! 😊 ~Nancy Edited January 21 by oakridger
Rare ottahand7 Posted January 21 Author #247 Share Posted January 21 Good morning from St. Thomas. We are berthed in Havensight with a convenient access to shore excursions. Rare ottahand7 Posted January 21 Author #248 Share Posted January 21 (edited) No dining room photos from last night. We dined in to watch the Ravens beat the Texans. Probably will be another night of the same here with two other important games. It is not bad sitting inside watching football while recovering from a respiratory illness. It has now been one week since I visited Medical and I am finally able to get a night's sleep with with only four or five coughing fits. Last night I had coconut crusted meatballs and rare prime rib. Both tasty though I wish they would bring a steak knife with the beef. Our room service waiter even brought horseradish to mix with sour cream for a sauce.
