jimdee3636 Posted January 5 #3 Share Posted January 5 A knitting group has the whole damn ship for a 21-night cruise? (Zuiderdam, June 8-29, 2024). I guess anything is possible, but that looks like a misprint. A partial charter maybe? (Then again, maybe I underestimate the number of knitters out there!). CNSJ Posted January 5 #7 Share Posted January 5 Thanks for the info. A full ship charter of knitters would be great for Antarctica. Scarves and mittens for all! 1

Rare Alphen Posted January 6 #10 Share Posted January 6 Nothing official, but judging the itinerary listing of Zaandam and the fact that its last dry dock was in 2020, Zaandam has no sailings between January 18th 2025 and February 8th 2025 and is believed to have a dry-dock in that period, as mentioned by a FCC on board. 3

Yes...those knitters and quilters are mean and armed with scissors... 🤣 But, yes, in all seriousness, I also appreciate the heads up on the booked groups.

I misread it to say 'Drink our way across the Caribbean', but it does say 'Dink'. Double Income No Kids?? or what?

Shalandara Posted January 7 #22 Share Posted January 7 16 hours ago, SusieKIslandGirl said: Just curious-what makes the Nieuw Amsterdam so popular with groups? Lots of full ship charters on the list. Off the top of my head part of it is size and part of it is location/itinerary based on time of year. Ive been monitoring this list for a while -- partly to see what types of charters are out there and partly to calculate if the ships/itineraries I am interested in are likely to be snatched up as charters. For size -- the charter pays for the whole ship so they kinda need to make sure they can get enough interested passengers. The difference of a few hundred berths between NA and the pinnacle ships is important in that. If you notice the Oosterdam gets a lot of charters in the Med -- something I noticed and will consider if looking at a Med cruise in the future. The NA fits a sweet spot I think -- decent size, slightly more amenities than others (like the Oosterdam) since it has the NY Pizza, regularly does 7 day itineries (another thing most charters are no more than 7 days). 1
SusieKIslandGirl Posted January 7 #23 Share Posted January 7 @VMax1700I read the same thing at first glance. I think a dink is a soft hit over the net when playing pickleball.
