torybruno Posted January 23 #1 Share Posted January 23 We are looking at booking this combined tour, transportation to Mendenhall… but we want to go at our own pace and don’t feel 90 minutes is long enough to hike to the falls and do the visitor center. At what point will they give us our tram ticket, we would like to call a cab at our own expense to get us from Mendenhall to the tram. Any foreseeable problems with this? Using our $100 excursion credit from HA, the excursion would cost us $9 plus cab fare, and we would be able to do it on our own timing.
wolfie11 Posted January 24 #2 Share Posted January 24 I would book only the Mendenhall Glacier. The docks are next to the tram and you can walk over and buy a ticket at the same price or less than on the ship. That way you’re not stuck with a tram ticket on a day when it’s pouring down rain. Traveling Library Posted January 24 #3 Share Posted January 24 Agree with Wolfie11 about the tram ticket. We've cruised to Juneau 4 times and it was only the 4th time that Mt. Roberts was not covered in fog or rain or both. If clear do go. The views are lovely. The glacier is also nice. We bought our bus tickets to the glacier from a kiosk at the pier. Also the Juneau Public Library is at the pier on the top floor and has free WiFi (I make a small donation to the Friends if you to thank them).
