Rare G-DawgMN Posted February 2 Author #126 Share Posted February 2 3 ships in Costa Maya today. The Wonder of the Seas, Pearl, and us. We had a reservation at Jamie’s Blue Reef. First time that we have been there. Getting a taxi was a bit confusing. There’s some right outside the port area but I think they are for tours. You have to walk down and outside the security gate. There was a man that helped get us a taxi to take us to Blue Reef. So far it’s nice. The area is small but they have nice comfy chairs and the service is fantastic so far. Also they have coke light in bottles.

PaperSniper4 Posted February 3 #130 Share Posted February 3 I'd appreciate a photo of the hang-on-the-door cabin coffee/breakfast service card. Ya'kno what I mean? We're curious to see the service start time as we are early risers. My request of you is very late and I'll understand if you cannot comply with it. Enjoy what's left of the cruise.😎 Doug

Is it a not to be missed? I might have. I’m going to post the dailies in bulk on Monday so they’re all in one place. Burn the Floor isn’t our thing but people say it’s good. They didn’t show it until last night due to new dancers coming onboard.

Rare G-DawgMN Posted February 3 Author #133 Share Posted February 3 It sounds like some people got left in Costa Maya yesterday. They called a few names and we left 45 minutes late. We were watching the gangway and security waited there until they closed up and we left. Last night we had dinner in Le Bistro. I had the beef tartare (ok seemed like it might have sat out a bit). Mushroom soup (amazing), the beer tenderloin (what’s up with the quarter sized fois gra. Sorry about the spelling. Autocorrect.). For dessert I tried the meringue thing. It wasn’t bad. Very light. Since we were right across from Headliners we could see people lining up 90 minutes early for the late show. We walked in 30 minutes prior and got decent seats about midway down. After that we walked outside a little and crashed out for the night.
Rare G-DawgMN Posted February 3 Author #134 Share Posted February 3 Having a chill sea day. Our routine is that I get up and shower first so I can hang out on deck while the wife gets ready. We are on deck 8 so I can just walk down the hall and be on deck. There’s some nice seating just out the door. 5

Rare G-DawgMN Posted February 3 Author #137 Share Posted February 3 Breakfast this morning was Huevos Ranchos. It was really good but I think they used leftover chili from O’Sheehans. I also asked for a side of crispy bacon and they delivered.
Rare G-DawgMN Posted February 3 Author #138 Share Posted February 3 There are apparently more than 2 lunch menus as todays was unique. I had the Pho, Sliders, BLT, and the banana cream pie. All were really good.

BTW, you have have really gorgeous photos in this thread! 0630 is a bit late for us, but we usually pencil in a slightly earlier time, and it's been delivered then 95% of the time. I think it makes their job a little easier to spread out the times a bit. If it does not show until 0630 that's fine also....after all, we are on a cruise ship! Worse comes to worse, in those 5% occasions, I make a quick run up to the lido deck for coffee. Or maybe on this cruise we'll try the in cabin coffee maker; not expecting it to be very good though..... Rare G-DawgMN Posted February 4 Author #140 Share Posted February 4 Last night was dinner at Moderno. I don’t have much for photos except my salad bar plate, but it’s all meat. The Top Sirloin was so tough we couldn’t chew it. The rest was just ok. Not overly memorable. The table next to us was having a hug meltdown because he was promised a dairy free crème brûlée. The host at Moderno spent a bunch of time on the phone, but even if they could whip one up I would guess it takes a cpl hours. Maybe less if they have a blast chiller. He was very agitated and dropping the f-bomb. He did t get what he wanted. The line to Syds was long 2 hours prior to showtime so we hung out at the Prime Meridian bar again and called it a night. We did see a Carnival ship buzz by us on the way up the river.
Rare G-DawgMN Posted February 4 Author #141 Share Posted February 4 (edited) This morning we did our final pack up and had a nice leisurely breakfast. Taste was not busy at all. I tried over easy eggs, pancakes, and some amazing crispy bacon. Also had my final fruit plate of the week. We hung around in the atrium until 9:30 and pretty much walked off with no delays. Snagged a cab ($36) and headed to the airport. Just a note. At less for Delta you can’t check luggage until 4 hours before your flight. I’ll post my final thoughts and notes tomorrow sometime. Overall it was a very nice cruise. Edited February 4 by KSSS2013 A 2

AKR2011 Posted February 5 #144 Share Posted February 5 Thanks for the review! Crazy how busy Syd's is for shows. I'll have to remember that and camp out extra early. Is the bar open prior to the shows? DH and I like hanging out and playing games while enjoying cocktails while we wait for shows.

Can you leave your bags in your room, go eat and then get them and leave? Thx. Marilyn

That seems to be the status quo with Moderna these days. Which is really too bad as it was once one of our favorites. I miss the skewers of lamb chops, the fat juicy sausages, and a good cut of filet being offered so often you had meat overload by the end of the meal. Now all you hear about is the salad bar…what a shame. I really enjoyed your review. Thanks for risking the time to share with the rest of us stuck in the winter ho-hums. Rare DCGuy64 Posted February 5 #149 Share Posted February 5 I'm also sorry the steak wasn't up to snuff at Moderno. I ate there back in November on the Breakaway and it was delicious, especially the filet mignon. Tender as can be. Moderno is probably my 2nd favorite restaurant on NCL, after La Cucina. No, you can't go in until around 30 minutes before the show, so people just stood out in the hallway..
