Devon born and bred Posted February 23 #1 Share Posted February 23 We have just been advised that the itinerary on our October cruise has changed. We are no longer going to Mykonos but will be visiting Souda Bay, Crete, instead. We are planning on doing our own thing. Can anyone advise on the best way to get to Chania from Souda Bay. Thank you. Dobbers Posted February 23 #2 Share Posted February 23 There is a bus at the port which takes you into Chania, last time we were there it cost a couple of euro. Nice place with shops and horse shoe bay. Souda has to be one of the worst places to stop at, often wondered if they pay the ships.
Rare dronnygirl Posted February 23 #3 Share Posted February 23 The bus into Chania is only 10-15 minutes. You get off in the centre of Chania, cross over the road and you are in a lovely shopping centre. There are modern shops and there are also market lanes. You eventually get down to the beautiful port where there are lots of cafes and bars
Rare cruisemom42 Posted February 23 #4 Share Posted February 23 Some ships offer a free shuttle into Chania but if not, there is the local bus already mentioned above. Very easy. Chania's not my favorite port but it can be a charming low-key day: a little sightseeing, a little shopping, and some good Greek food.
MeHeartCruising Posted February 23 #5 Share Posted February 23 I agree with the above. There should be a bus. Free or a few euros. And while not the best port in the world, it makes for a nice day. Enjoy!
