philw1776 Posted May 28 #1 Share Posted May 28 (edited) I notice that Viking Neptune is presently docked across the bay from the Opera House. Is this the typical dock location? How close is a tram or bus stop that we can use to get to the location for Ferries to the Museums, e.g. Norske Folkmuseum? deec Posted May 28 #2 Share Posted May 28 not a long walk to the ferries but buses and trams were close too. We did a great tour through Viator called Viking ( no relationship) hike and bike. We took the ferries to three islands for brief walks and explanation of the islands. Stopped for a lunch we brought and could go for a swim if we wanted. About 20 people and 2 great guides I think it was about 48$/pp and the ferry ticket was good for 24 hours.! the ferry will easily take you to the maritime, kontiki and folk museums . 1
philw1776 Posted May 29 Author #3 Share Posted May 29 Thanks. Looking for details on actual port location as there are 2 very different dock possibilities at least.

On our Viking Homelands cruise in 2022, our ship Jupiter docked on the west side of Akershus Fortress (in view of Aker Brygge). Meanwhile the Venus was docked on the east side (in view of Oslo Opera House). Easy walking distance (from either docking location) to nearby Aker Brygge, Sentrum and Bjorvika areas. Plenty of public transport options available (ferry, bus, tram and the "T-Bane") - you can buy a Ruter pass for a day (or more) that you can use on these transport options.

And our Homelands we spent one night on the Aker Brygge side; then the Mars moved to the Opera House side for the second night.

I really hope our summer Homies cruise does precisely that. We're doing the 2 days on our own and that makes it even easier.
