Comp Cruise

Coming back to cruising after 12 years - I am reading many different posts about Comp cruises.....  How do you get a comp cruise?

I suspect most are referring to either a comp earned through casino play or a Crown & Anchor loyalty level comp (Pinnacle and beyond).

We get ours through the casino, it’s based on how many points you accrue during your cruise and also cumulative for the year. You may get offered a free cabin or discounts

2500 points per year gets you an free interior cabin for two. 7 nights or less.

What is the $ spent amount in order to accumulate 2500 points?

You can start getting deals and comps around 1500 points.

 

$5 in the slots = 1 point

$10 in VP = 1 point

 

Tables have other variables.

There is no rhyme or reason anymore, we went on our first Royal cruise ever in December and my wife put somewhere between $1k-2k through slot machines, so being generous and taking the top end of $2k that would put her at 400 points after that cruise. We will be leaving this Sunday on a comped cruise resulting from that casino play, and receive offers almost weekly in our mailbox now.

And its not how much you lose/win but how much you put "at risk" through the slot machine.  So, for every $5 played you get 1 point.  You have to put at risk $12,500 to get the 2,500 points to get to prime, which gives you the free cruise, free drinks while in the casino and a 30% internet discount.
